A dimmer unit is equipped with a first light detection unit that modulates the light intensity of composite laser light emitted from a composite laser light emission unit and detects the light intensity of the composite laser light before entering the dimmer unit, and a second light detection unit that detects the light intensity of the composite laser light after entering the dimmer unit. The light intensity characteristic for each color in the composite laser light emission unit is calculated on the basis of the light intensity detected by the first light detection unit, and the white balance of each color in the composite laser light emission unit is adjusted on the basis of the light intensity detected by the second light detection unit.

Laser scanning display device

A color mixing device and a display device are configured to represent the color white in a consistent fashion, even in low-luminance areas. These devices are provided with: a red light source for outputting red light at optical intensity in response to a first current presented thereto; a green light source for outputting green light at optical intensity in response to a second current presented thereto; a blue light source for outputting blue light at optical intensity in response to a third current presented thereto; and a color mixing means for color mixing of the red light, the green light, and the blue light together. A light attenuating part transmits or reflects the blue light, bringing about attenuation and advance thereof in the output direction. The blue light output by the blue light source is attenuated to a greater extent than the light of the other colors during output.

Color mixing device and display device

A scanning-type projection device is provided with an emitted-light-intensity control unit for controlling the light intensity of a laser light emitted by a laser light source unit, a polarization direction control unit for controlling the polarization direction of the laser light, a scanning unit for scanning the laser light and generating a display image, and a divergence unit on which the laser light scanned by the scanning unit is incident. The emitted-light-intensity control unit has a polarization control element for controlling the polarization state of the laser light, and a polarizing plate on which the laser light emitted from the polarization control element is incident, and the polarization direction control unit adjusts the polarization direction of display light incident on a projection surface by controlling the polarization direction of the laser light emitted by the emitted-light-intensity control unit.

Scanning-type projection device

Provided is a display device for a vehicle that can, in a configuration in which the cost of parts is curbed, quickly raise the temperature of a laser light source (LD) in a low temperature environment, and quickly perform stable image output. The LDs () emit laser light (RGB) and an MEMS mirror () scans the laser light (RGB) and generates a display image (M). A convex mirror () reflects display light (L) indicating the display image (M) in an external direction via a translucent light-transmitting unit (). An LD driving means () emits laser light (RGB) to the LDs () when the temperature is low, and causes the LDs () to perform self-heating driving for raising the temperature of themselves.

Display device with improved heating for operating in a low temperature environment

Provided is a heads-up display device that stably achieves a low brightness display in which the display does not feel too bright in a dark environment at night, which further does not give a vehicle driver discomfort with continuous changes in brightness, and which has excellent white balance in the entire range of display brightness. A heads-up display device () is provided with an external light illuminance detection section () that detects the illuminance of external light and adjusts the display brightness (B) for display of images, which are displayed, on the basis of external light illuminance (P) measured by the external light illuminance detection section (). The heads-up display device () is further provided with a display brightness adjusting means () that adjusts the display brightness (B) of the display image to a low level when a display image is displayed in a low brightness region that is lower than a prescribed brightness by controlling the polarization angle of a polarized light control element () and adjusting the transmittance (Z) for laser light (R, G, B) in a polarized light section ().

Head-up display device

A head-up display device and a self-checking method therefor are provided, which are able to suppress the direct output of a laser beam to outside. A reflecting means reflects an image generated by a scanning means and projects the image outside of a case, and an angle-adjusting means adjusts the reflecting means to a desired angle. After the ignition switch of the vehicle is turned on, a light-emitting means outputs a scanning laser beam, and the value of the current flowing to the light-emitting means is detected, or a first light intensity, which is the light intensity of the scanning laser beam, is detected. For a period extending at least from the output of the scanning laser beam by the light-emitting means to the establishment of a predetermined condition, the angle-adjusting means is controlled such that the reflecting means is set to a non-visible position at which the scanning laser beam is reflected inside the case.
