A distal end unit includes: an image pickup unit made using a wafer level optics technique; a distal end frame forming an external shape of an insertion portion, the distal end frame being constituted by a resin molded article; an image pickup unit containing room containing the image pickup unit in an interior of the distal end frame, the image pickup unit containing room including a first opening portion and a second opening portion that are continuously formed, the first opening portion being positioned on the distal end surface of the distal end frame, the second opening portion being positioned on a side surface of the distal end frame; and a filler having light blocking property, the image pickup unit containing room being filled with the filler, the filler forming the external shape of a distal end portion with the distal end frame.

An endoscope includes a distal end portion in which an optical unit and a treatment instrument channel are held such that a photographing optical axis, a central axis of the distal end portion, and a central axis of the treatment instrument channel are linearly aligned When viewed from an end face of the distal end portion. The first magnet and the second magnet are arranged at non-rotationally-symmetric positions with respect to the photographing optical axis, and a region of the optical unit, which is on a side where a distance between the first magnet and the second magnet on an arc of a circle around the photographing optical axis is short, faces the treatment instrument channel.

An image pickup unit includes: a metal barrel holding an objective lens; a substrate barrel formed of a circuit formed product having insulation property; an image sensor having a chip size package; plural electrodes formed in a penetrating manner from an inside of a substrate barrel to a proximal end side in an exposed manner, the plural electrodes being electrically connected to an image sensor in the substrate barrel; an electric conductive portion formed on an outer surface of the substrate barrel, having an insulation property with respect to the metal barrel, and having a predetermined creepage distance by which a current such as static electricity can be discharged; a ground electrode electrically connected to the electric conductive portion; and a cable provided with plural wires connected to a ground wire connected to the ground electrode and plural wires connected to the plural electrodes.

An optical unit for endoscope includes: a moving barrel which is a soft magnetic body, configured to hold a lens; a fixed barrel which is a non-magnetic body, configured to movably hold the moving barrel on an inner circumferential face; a pair of yokes arranged on an outer face of the fixed barrel; a coil wound around the outer face of the fixed barrel and a magnet arranged on a part in the circumferential direction, between the pair of yokes; and a magnetic body member with magnetism stronger than magnetism of the moving barrel, the magnetic body member being arranged on a part of the moving barrel in the circumferential direction, corresponding to the magnet.
