Described are methods for saccharifying starch-containing materials using a glucoamylase, methods for producing fermentation products, and fermentation products produced by the method thereof as well as methods for increasing starch digestibility in a ruminant using at least one of the glucoamylases described herein.

Glucoamylases and methods of use, thereof

Described herein is at least one novel trypsin-like serine protease polypeptide and uses thereof. Further described herein are cleaning compositions containing at least one polypeptide described herein, wherein said composition can be used to clean fabrics and hard surfaces. Even further described herein is at least one cleaning composition selected from a laundry detergent, a dishwashing detergent (e.g., automatic and hand dish), and a personal care composition. Even still further, at least one polypeptide having improved soil removal and/or stability compared to at least one reference polypeptide is described herein.

Trypsin-like serine proteases and uses thereof

A method of detecting a phytase activity or a protease activity is described. The method comprises the steps of: (a) providing a composition comprising a phytate/protein complex in a liquid or a gel; wherein the phytate/protein complex provides a detectable property to the composition; (b) providing a sample that comprises or is suspected of comprising phytase activity and/or protease activity, wherein the phytase and/or protease activity is capable of causing a change in the detectable property of the composition; (c) contacting the composition with the sample; and (d) determining if there is a detectable change in detectable property of the composition.

A method of preparing the sugar 1,5-D-anhydrofructose is described. The method comprises treating an &agr;-1,4-glucan with an &agr;-1,4-glucan lyase wherein the enzyme is used in substantially pure form. In a preferred embodiment, if the glucan contains links other than and in addition to the &agr;-1,4-links, the &agr;-1,4-glucan lyase is used in conjunction with a suitable reagent that can break the other links.
