An article includes a substrate having a circuit forming surface and a non-circuit forming surface opposite the circuit forming surface. The article further includes a protective tape borne on the circuit forming surface. The protective tape includes a support layer and a curable adhesive layer borne on a major surface of the support layer. The curable adhesive layer includes a rubber elastomer and a thermal curing agent.

Protective tapes, articles therefrom, and methods of making and using same

Pressure-sensitive adhesive compositions and articles that include a layer of the pressure-sensitive adhesive compositions are provided. The pressure-sensitive adhesive compositions are particularly well suited for use with substrates that have been considered to have difficult to bond to surfaces such as those routinely encountered in the automotive industry. For example, the pressure-sensitive adhesive can be adhered to clear coat compositions, painted surfaces, and various polymeric materials having low energy surfaces (e.g., surfaces having a surface energy no greater than 35 dynes per centimeter).

Disclosed is a crosslinked adhesive composition comprising a low T(meth)acrylate copolymer component, a high T(meth)acrylate copolymer component, and a hydrogenated hydrocarbon tackifier. This disclosure provides a pressure-sensitive adhesive and pressure-sensitive adhesive articles that are particularly useful in the bonding of low surface energy (LSE) substrates.

Adhesive composition

A pressure sensitive adhesive composition is described comprising a polyisobutylene polymer having a first functional group and an acrylic polymer having a second functional group present in the acrylic polymer backbone. The first and second functional groups form a hydrogen bond. In some embodiments, the adhesive composition further comprises a crosslinker that covalently crosslinks the second functional group(s) present in the polymer backbone of the acrylic polymer. Also described are adhesive articles, such as a tape, methods of adhesively bonding, and methods of making a pressure sensitive adhesive.

Pressure sensitive adhesive comprising functionalized polyisobutylene hydrogen bonded to acylic polymer

A pressure sensitive adhesive composition is described comprising unfunctionalized (e.g. polyisobutylene) synthetic rubber and an acrylic polymer having functionalized polyisobutylene polymer bonded to the acrylic polymer. In some embodiments, the functionalized polyisobutylene polymer has a first functional group hydrogen bonded with a second functional group present in the acrylic polymer backbone. In other embodiments, the functionalized polyisobutylene polymer is covalently bonded to the acrylic polymer backbone. Also described are adhesive articles, such as a tape, methods of adhesively bonding, and methods of making a pressure sensitive adhesive.
