A fuel pump attachment structure is provided that includes a cylinder head; a cylinder head cover joined to a top surface of the cylinder head; a bracket mounted to the top surface of the cylinder head so as to be located at a position outside the cylinder head cover; and a fuel pump attached to the bracket. The fuel pump is inserted into an opening formed in the cylinder head cover. A sealing member is arranged between an outer surface of the fuel pump and a surface of the cylinder head cover that defines the opening. Alternatively, a pressing portion is formed in a lower portion of the bracket. The pressing portion presses a pressed portion formed on a periphery of the cylinder head cover from above by means of a bolt that is inserted into the pressing portion and fastened to the cylinder head.

Fuel pump attachment structure

A relief valve for an oil filter device integrally formed with a check valve has an annular shape, and has a front end portion, a guiding portion, a sealing portion, a recess portion, and a groove portion. The relief valve is attached to a protector only by inserting a cylindrical protector end portion into the groove portion thereof. At this time, the recess portion is elastically deformed so that the sealing portion moves inwardly, while the sealing portion is elastically compressed by the protector end portion. As a result, the relief valve closes an oil flow passage defined in a wall of the protector end portion only by an elastic deformation stress thereof. The relief valve can be readily molded and attached to the oil filter device and stably provide desired valve opening characteristics.

A protector for holding a filter medium thereon is made of resin and composed of a plurality of pillar members. The pillar members are disposed in parallel with each other in a longitudinal direction thereof and forming a circular shape with intervals respectively between adjacent two pillar members. Accordingly, the protector can be easily manufactured by molding and can be easily scrapped after its use. The protector further has a positioning member for positioning the protector in a case. Accordingly, a number of parts in a filter device can be reduced, resulting in a decrease in man-hours for assembling the parts.

Protector for holding filter medium

A filter element which is improved in filter performance and suitable for use in various types of filters, and a manufacturing method thereof. In the filter element, a multiplicity of tubes each formed of a filtering material and having a substantially circular shape in cross-section are arranged side by side into a tubular assembly with the axes of the tubes lying parallel to one another; inter-tube openings are closed at one end of the tubular assembly which end serves as the inlet side for a fluid to be filtered, whereas intra-tube openings are closed on the opposite end of the tubular assembly; and the total cross-sectional area of all the inter-tube openings is set smaller than the total cross-sectional area of all the intra-tube openings, but larger than the minimum cross-sectional area of a path through which the fluid is supplied to the tubular assembly. Specifically, one or more filtering materials including a plurality of tubes each having a substantially circular shape in cross-section and connecting portions to interconnect the adjacent tubes are rolled into a spiral shape to provide the tubular assembly with the axes of the tubes arranged side by side parallel to one another.

Filter element and manufacture method thereof

A filter element which is improved in filter performance and suitable for use in various types of filters. In the filter element, a multiplicity of tubes each formed of a filtering material and having a substantially circular shape in cross-section are arranged side by side into a tubular assembly with the axes of the tubes lying parallel to one another; inter-tube openings are closed at one end of the tubular assembly which end serves as the inlet side for a fluid to be filtered, whereas intra-tube openings are closed on the opposite end of the tubular assembly; and the total cross-sectional area of all the inter-tube openings, is set smaller than the total cross-sectional area of all the intra-tube openings, but larger than the minimum cross-sectional area of a path through which the fluid is supplied to the tubular assembly. Specifically, one or more filtering materials including a plurality of tubes each having a substantially circular shape in cross-section and connecting portions to interconnect the adjacent tubes are rolled into a spiral shape to provide the tubular assembly with the axes of the tubes arranged side by side parallel to one another.
