The present invention provides a liquid deodorant having a high deodorizing effect and lasting ability to a fabric or fabrics. That is, the present invention provides a liquid deodorant which comprises 80 to 99% by weight of water and has a pH of 7.5 to 9.5 at 25&#xb0; C., 1000 ml of which deodorant may be adjusted to pH 10 at 25&#xb0; C. with 10 to 200 ml of 0.1 N aqueous NaOH and may be adjusted to pH 7 at 25&#xb0; C. with 20 to 500 ml of 0.1 N aqueous HSO.

The softener composition of the present invention comprises a compound having one or more Chydrocarbon groups and two or more groups selected from an amino group and a quaternary ammonium group in the molecule (component (a)), an anionic surfactant having a Chydrocarbon group (component (b)) and a nonionic surfactant (component (c)), wherein the molar ratio of the component (a) to the component (b) is from 90/10 to 50/50. This softener composition can endow cotton and cotton clothes in particular with a preferred softness, elasticity (fluffy feeling) and feeling of dryness with small oiliness.

Provided is a transparent softener composition having a high softening effect and imparting good feeling to clothes.
