A forklift has a frame and a rear axle, which is pivotally joined to the frame about a center pivot axis. Front and rear supporting members support the frame on the axle. A damper is located between the frame and the axle. The damper has an upper end connected to the frame and a lower end connected to the axle. A bracket for joining the upper end of the damper to the frame is located no further forward than the front end of the front support member and no further rearward than the rear support member. This structure suppresses torsion and bending force applied to the damper.

The present invention discloses a differential axle housing which is particularly adapted for use in a fork lift and by which productivity is improved and which can be produced in a manner minimizing the wast of materials. Its differential housing has a generally cylindrical roll-forged ring portion having open ends along an axis, and a cover closing one of the open ends. A pair of straight cylindrical flange portions, preferably roll-forged, are attached in diametrically opposite relation to each other on the peripheral wall of the ring portion, each surrounding an axle opening therein. These elements are welded to the ring portion after being individually formed. Thus, the differential housing is produced. A pair of axle tubes are then shrink-fit and welded to the respective flange portions, and fitting brackets for receiving the mast pivot brackets of a fork lift mast are attached to the respective of the axle tubes.

Differential axle housing

A hydraulic device for operating a clutch in an industrial vehicle having a transmission comprising shift changeable gears and manually operated shift levers. Gear actuating hydraulic boosters are provided for hydraulically actuating the shift changeable gears, and the clutch is actuated by a clutch cylinder. The hydraulic device comprises a clutch circuit extending between a hydraulic pump and the clutch cylinder, and a booster circuit extending between the hydraulic pump and the boosters. A gate valve is arranged in the clutch circuit and is movable in response to pressure of hydraulic oil in the booster circuit, so that the normally closed gate valve is opened when the manually operable shift levers are operated. Also, a pressure control circuit is branched from the clutch circuit and again branched into parallel third and fourth hydraulic circuits. A forward and reverse gate valve and a speed change gate valve are arranged in the third and fourth hydraulic circuits, respectively. A check valve and a first accumulator are arranged in the third hydraulic circuit and a second accumulator is arranged in the second hydraulic circuit upstream of the second gate valve for controlling the use of pressure applied to the clutch cylinder.

A hydraulic control circuit arrangement for a single-acting cylinder provided with bottom and rod chambers separated by a piston having a piston rod extending the rod chamber, the arrangement including a directional control valve for controlling a supply of an operating oil from a hydraulic pump to the bottom chamber and an evacuation of the operating oil from both the bottom and rod chambers, a first pilot-operated valve for controlling the type of operation of the single-acting cylinder from a ram type to a piston type, and vice versa, in response to a change in an extent of a load applied to the single-acting cylinder during the lifting thereof, a short-circuiting conduit arranged between the bottom and rod chambers of the cylinder to short-circuit a flow of the operating oil from the bottom to rod chamber, and vice versa, a second pilot-operated valve located in the short-circuiting conduit to control the short-circuiting of the flow of operating oil, and a flow control valve for generating a pressure in the bottom chamber of the single-acting cylinder to thereby promote the short-circuiting of the flow of operating oil from the bottom to rod chamber of the single-acting cylinder during the lowering of the cylinder.

A fully hydraulic power steering apparatus provided with a hydraulic power cylinder driven by turning a steering wheel to provide rear wheels of an industrial vehicle with a pivoting motion, to thereby steer the vehicle, and an error correcting unit for mechanically correcting an error between an angle of turn of the steering wheel and a corresponding stroke motion of the hydraulic power cylinder. The error correcting unit mechanically derives respective linear movements from the angle of turn of the steering wheel and the corresponding stroke of the power cylinder, and utilizes a difference between both mechanical linear movements for operating a directional control valve for controlling a flow of a pressurized oil supplied from a power steering valve unit toward the power cylinder to correct the amount of the stroke of the power cylinder with respect to the amount of angle by which the steering wheel is turned.

An upright assembly for a fork lift truck is disclosed in which the assembly comprises an outer mast of U-shaped cross-section and an inner mast also of U-shaped cross-section that is received in the space within the outer mast.
