A process for producing a polyolefin-based resin composition comprises, in the first polymerization stage, polymerizing an &#x3b1;-olefin having 4 to 20 carbon atoms, a styrene or a cyclic olefin in the presence of a specific catalyst and, in the second polymerization stage, copolymerizing the obtained polymer with an &#x3b1;-olefin having 2 to 20 carbon atoms, a styrene or a cyclic olefin in the presence of a polyene. A polypropylene composition has a branching parameter a and a branching index g in specific ranges. The curve showing the change in viscosity under elongation with time, the degradation parameter D or the content of a high molecular weight component is specified. The polyolefin-based resin composition exhibits excellent uniformity and improved workability in melting due to improved tension in melted condition. The polypropylene composition exhibits excellent melting elasticity and secondary workability and provides foamed molded articles, sheets and blow molded articles.

Process for producing polyolefin resin composition and polypropylene composition

The present invention provides a polyolefin-based resin composition, comprising (A) a polyolefin I produced from at least one monomer selected from the group consisting of &#x3b1;-olefins, cyclic olefins and styrenes; (B) a polyolefin II produced from said at least one monomer, which differs in composition or properties from said polyolefin I; and (C) a graft copolymer produced by bonding said polyolefins I and II to each other through a polyene, wherein (a) a ratio [(1/R)/(1/R)] of a relaxation velocity (1/R) of a long-term relaxation component measured by a solidH-NMR method about the composition to a relaxation velocity (1/R)of a long-term relaxation component measured by a solidH-NMR method about a resin mixture of only the components (A) and (B) is 1.01 or higher; and (b) an intrinsic viscosity [&#x3b7;] of the composition is in the range of 0.1 to 10 deciliter/g as measured in decalin at 135&#xb0; C. The resin composition is readily controlled in property-determining factors such as morphology and interfacial strength, and is capable of providing a composite material composed of polyolefin-based resins according to properties as required.

Polyolefin resin composition

The polyolefin-based resin composition (I) of the present invention comprises (A) 99.9 to 80% by mass of a propylene (co)polymer having (a) a melt flow rate (MFR) of 0.1 to 200 g/10 min, (b) a meso-pentad fraction [mmmm] of an ordinary temperature (25&#xb0; C.) xylene-insoluble component of 97.0% or higher, and (c) a content of an ordinary temperature (25&#xb0; C.) xylene-soluble component of 4 to 50% by mass; and (B) 0.1 to 20% by mass of a copolymer containing propylene chains of an isotactic structure, and copolymer chains constituted from at least two monomer units selected from the group consisting of ethylene, Cto C&#x3b1;-olefins, cyclic olefins and aromatic vinyl monomers which are graft-bonded and/or block-bonded to said copolymer, and exhibits not only a high rigidity but also a highly enhanced impact strength and is well-balanced between the physical properties thereof.

The invention relates to olefin branched macromonomers, olefin graft copolymers and olefin resin compositions having the advantage of good compatibility with polyolefin resins and good moldability and workability. The olefin branched macromonomer satisfies the following (a) and (b):

An ethylenic copolymer composition including an ethylenic copolymer having Mw/Mn of 1.5 to 4, Mw of 3,000 to 1,000,000, and a resin density of 0.85 to 0.95 g/cm. The relationship between the half width at the half maximum [W/2] of the Gaussian distribution curve, and the average, n, of short-chain branches in the copolymer satisfies the equation,0.704+0.147n=W/2=&#x2212;0.055+0.577n.The ethylenic copolymer composition also includes an ethylenic copolymer having an Mw of 3,000 to 1,000,000 and a resin density of 0.85 to 0.95 g/cm.

Long-chain, branched, propylene-based polymers, of which the melt index and the molecular weight distribution and the melt tension and the limiting viscosity both satisfy specific requirements, have good physical properties that are comparable to or better than those of conventional propylene-based polymers. They have good melt workability and are favorable to large-size blow molding and extrusion foaming. They are favorably used as miscibility improvers for propylene homopolymers and propylene-based copolymers.

Olefin-based polymer

Provided are a propylene homopolymer in which a melt tension (MT), a Z average molecular weight (Mz) and a melt index (MI) (g/10 minutes) are specifically related and in which a difference in eluting temperatures and a maximum eluting temperature in programmed temperature fractional chromatography and a propylene copolymer in which a comonomer is specific &agr;-olefin and a content thereof falls in a specific range and in which a melt tension (MT), a Z average molecular weight (Mz) and a melt index (MI) (g/10 minutes) are specifically related. The propylene homopolymer or the propylene copolymer of the present invention has physical properties equivalent to or not lower than those of conventional propylene polymers, and it can be controlled in a melt tension and is suited to foaming molding, sheet molding and blow molding. Further, it is excellent in melt-processing characteristics, molding stability and a recycling property and can be applied to molding methods which are restricted in use in conventional propylene polymers, for example, large size blow molding and extrusion foaming molding.

Propylene homopolymer and propylene copolymer

Provided are an aluminium-oxy compound obtained through reaction of an organoaluminium compound with water, which is soluble in hydrocarbon solvents and in which the amount of the organoaluminium compound remaining is at most 10% by weight; a carrier comprising the aluminium-oxy compound and an inorganic compound; and a catalyst component for olefin polymerization comprising the carrier and a transition metal compound. The catalyst component for olefin polymer production comprises the aluminium-oxy compound and gives polyolefins with good polymer morphology.
