An image processing apparatus in which the reusability of digital image data is improved is disclosed. The apparatus includes an image reading unit reading a draft and obtaining the digitized image data; an image writing unit printing image data on a transfer paper; a recording unit recording image data and attached information of the image data; an external I/F unit transmitting and receiving image data and attached information of the image data; a first and a second image data processing units processing the image data from the image reading unit and the recording unit, respectively; and a bus controlling unit connecting each of the units. The first and the second image data processing units match the characteristics of the image data to prescribed characteristics so that the matched image data can be usable for both the image writing unit and the external device.

The present invention increases output throughput and enhances user-friendliness by subjecting image data to magnification processing by an optimal image processing means, with an optimal magnification ratio, in accordance with a service provided to a user. When a service provided to the user is selected and a magnification ratio is set, a CPU of a MFP determines the distribution of respective magnification ratios of a first image data processor and a second image data processor. For instance, when the selected service is a 'service relating to the output of image data' the distribution of respective magnification ratios is determined so that magnification processing with the set magnification ratio is carried out in the first image data processor. When the selected service is 'a plurality of services relating to the output of image data', and the set magnification ratios are all identical for each service, the distribution of respective magnification ratios is determined so that magnification processing with the respective magnification ratios is carried out in the first image data processor. When the set magnification ratios are different for each service, the distribution of respective magnification ratios is determined so that magnification processing with the respective magnification ratios is carried out in the second image data processor.

A combustion control system for a diesel engine provided with a fuel injection system and a sensor for detecting an ignition timing. The combustion control system comprises a control unit which is configured to control the ignition timing to be restored to a target value when the ignition timing shifts from the target value owing to circumferential factors such as cetane number of fuel. Preferably, the ignition timing is controlled to generally coincide with or be retarded relative to a fuel injection termination timing. This regulates an ignition delay period to be longer than a fuel injection period in a predetermined engine operating region, thereby effectively accomplishing so-called low temperature premix combustion.

Combustion control system for diesel engine

A dish-shaped combustion chamber (,) is formed in a diesel engine piston (13), and a fuel injector (,) is installed on the center axis of this combustion chamber (,). A device (,) is provided for varying the intake air amount aspirated into the engine. It is determined whether the engine is an idle running state or a normal running state. The device (,) is controlled so that the intake air amount in the idle running state is less than the intake air amount in the normal running state, and the injector (,) is controlled so that part of the fuel is injected before a main injection when the engine is in the idle running state.

Diesel engine

A diesel engine comprises a combustion-temperature control device for adjusting a combustion temperature of the engine depending on an engine operating condition, and an ignition-delay-duration control device for adjusting an ignition delay duration depending on the engine operating condition. An engine-temperature sensor is provided for detecting an engine temperature. During cold-engine warm-up period, an electronic control unit effectively compensates for both the combustion temperature and the ignition delay duration depending on the engine temperature, to reconcile the slow initial combustion in the early combustion stage and the sharp combustion in the middle or later combustion stage and so as to realize a so-called low-temperature premixed combustion with an increased rate of premixed combustion to diffusion combustion under a condition of low combustion temperatures.

Control system for diesel engine during cold-engine warm-up

In a diesel engine which conducts exhaust gas recirculation and low temperature pre-mixed combustion at a low compression ratio, an ambient temperature at initiation of combustion which is determined by a compression ratio and an intake gas temperature or engine load is determined to be in a low temperature region which is lower than a first target temperature T1 which supports pre-mixed combustion or not. When the ambient temperature at initiation of combustion is determined to be in a region that is lower than a first target temperature T1, a temperature increase control device is operated which increases the temperature of the operational gases in the cylinder so that the temperature at initiation of combustion exceeds a first target temperature. The main fuel injection timing is placed in the range of 5.degree.-20.degree. of the combustion top dead center so that the main combustion temperature is above a fixed value. In this way, low temperature pre-mixed combustion is stabilized at low load at which combustion becomes unstable when compression ratios are low.

Combustion control device for diesel engine

A fuel injection timing of a fuel injector (22) of a direct injection diesel engine is retarded to compression top dead center or even later. All of the required fuel injection amount is injected by the fuel injector (22) in an ignition delay period. The oxygen concentration in the combustion chamber (14) is decreased by exhaust gas recirculation. A swirl is set up in the combustion chamber (14) by a variable swirl generator (31). The compression ratio of the engine is preferably set to 15 or less, the vertical gas velocity in the combustion chamber is reduced by adopting a shallow piston cavity, and the cylinder internal maximum pressure is suppressed to 12 MPa or less.

Direct injection diesel engine

In a diesel engine in which boost air is supplied by a turbocharger, the generation of dry soot, which is a component of smoke, is suppressed by lowering the intake air temperature in the cylinder at the compression top dead center position of the piston. The fuel injected into the intake air is ignited by the heat of this compression. In order to reduce the intake air temperature at the top dead center position without reducing the amount of the intake air, the boost pressure of the turbocharger is lowered and also the effective compression ratio by the piston for the intake air is raised by, for example, altering the closing timing of an intake valve.
