The cantilever and compression strength of a polymer post insulator decreases according to lengthening of lever length of the polymer post insulator. By combining polymer post insulators to construct a structure having an increased strength in an arbitrary direction, a polymer insulator apparatus and a method for mounting the same can provide a sufficient strength and rigidity even as a long insulator for high voltage that requires a long insulation distance. Polymer post insulator columns--, in which plural polymer post insulators-to-are stacked, are arranged in parallel. The polymer post insulator columns--arranged in parallel are connected with each other via connecting plates-to-at each connection site of the polymer post insulators-to-constituting the polymer post insulator columns--as well as at the top and bottom of the polymer post insulator columns--. Thus, the cantilever strength in a direction of arranging the polymer post insulator columns--in parallel is increased, and also the compression strength in a direction of stacking the polymer post insulators-to-is increased.

A composite insulator includes an insulating rod, end fittings crimped to opposite end portions of said insulating rod, and an elastic insulating material molded around the outer periphery of the insulating rod, wherein each of the end fittings has a flange around the outer periphery of an end fitting body on an axially external side thereof, and the elastic insulating material is molded around the outer periphery of the insulating rod and those of the end fitting bodies such that the elastic material extends up to and between the flanges. A process for the production of such a composite insulator is also disclosed.

A swivel base assembly for mounting an insulator to a support structure, including a base member having a pair of opposed bearing seats spaced apart from one another in alignment along a bearing axis, and a one-piece coupling member having a first end received within the pair of opposed bearing seats and a second end adapted to be coupled to the insulator. The first end defines a first pivot axis for the insulator and the second end defines a second pivot axis for the insulator, wherein the first pivot axis is substantially coincident with the bearing axis and the second pivot axis is substantially perpendicular to the first pivot axis. The assembly also includes a mechanism for securing the base member to the support structure.

The disclosed polymer LP insulator having an FRP rod, an insulation overcoat member made of rubber, which is arranged on an outer surface of the FRP rod, and securing metal members clamped at both end portions of the FRP rod, wherein an end portion of the insulation overcoat member is inserted into an end portion of the securing metal member, includes an elastic member arranged in a space defined by the FRP rod, an inner surface of the securing metal member, and an end surface of the insulation overcoat member, wherein a pressure for clamping and fixing is only applied to a connection portion between the securing member and the FRP rod. The disclosed polymer LP insulator is produced for example by arranging the securing metal member at both ends of the FRP rod; clamping and fixing the securing metal member to the FRP rod by applying a pressure only to a connection portion between the securing metal member and the FRP rod; and forming the insulation overcoat member made of rubber on an outer surface of the FRP rod, and an elastic member in a space defined by the FRP rod, an inner surface of the securing metal member, and an end surface of the insulation overcoat member simultaneously.

Method of producing a polymer LP insulator

A composite insulator includes an insulating rod, an elastic insulating material molded around the insulating rod and having a plurality of shed portions, and end fittings fixedly fitted around opposite ends of the insulating rod. The end fittings cover the respective end portions of the elastic material. End faces of the end fittings abut respective shed portions of the elastic insulating material.

Securing method

A method of securing a corona ring for controlling a corona discharge, including inserting a support member of an insulator to be secured, between a first ring securing portion arranged integrally with the corona ring and a second ring securing portion arranged independently with respect to the first ring securing portion, and fixing the first ring securing portion and the second ring securing portion from each other. In this method, since a corona discharge ring improper mounting preventing apparatus is arranged on the first ring securing portion, one of the ring securing portions is preliminarily secured to the support member, a ring securing method at the seal portion of the support member is improved and/or a corona discharge ring improper mounting preventing apparatus is arranged on said support member it is not possible to fix the corona ring to the support member if the corona ring is secured in an incorrect position with respect to the support member. Therefore, it is possible to prevent a corona ring mis-securing operation.

Method of securing corona ring

A corona control ring has a corona control ring main body and a water discharge hole having an elongated shape like a racetrack. The corona control ring main body includes a bottom portion and an inner wall portion and an outer wall portion respectively arranged at an inner edge portion and an outer edge portion of the bottom portion. The water discharge hole is arranged in the bottom portion. A depression portion is formed in the corona control ring main body by the inner wall portion, the outer wall portion and the bottom portion. Accordingly, the present invention provides a corona control ring which can suppress a corona discharge even during rain fall.
