A multifocal diffractive lens is provided which achieves efficient use of light. The multifocal diffractive lensincludes a diffraction grating. Negative-order light Lproduces a focal point ffor far vision and 0-order light Lproduces a focal point fnearer to that for far vision. The number of focal points is two or more. The focal position fc for far vision in polychromatic performance evaluation is located nearer to the multifocal diffractive lens than the focal position fs for far vision in monochromatic performance evaluation.

Multifocal diffractive lens

It is provided an intraocular lens insertion system that achieves a preferable insertion of an intraocular lens without using viscoelastic material in an eyeball. The intraocular lens insertion system includes an intraocular lens insertion apparatus configured to use a predetermined driving force to move an intraocular lens and insert the intraocular lens into an eyeball, an irrigating solution infusion apparatus configured to infuse irrigating solution into the eyeball, a driving source configured to deliver the predetermined driving force to the intraocular lens insertion apparatus, an irrigating solution source configured to deliver the irrigating solution to the irrigating solution infusion apparatus, and a switching unit configured to switch in a multistage manner a control of a delivery of the irrigating solution from the irrigating solution source to the irrigating solution infusion apparatus and a control of a delivery of the predetermined driving force from the driving source to the intraocular lens insertion apparatus.

Provided is technology which can prevent the circumferential section of the end surface of a tip end opening from being damaged when an intraocular lens is extruded from an insertion apparatus, even when an insertion tube of the intraocular lens insertion apparatus has been further reduced in size. Provided is an intraocular lens insertion apparatus in which the end surface of a tip end opening () in a tip end section () of an insertion tube is an inclined surface that is inclined with respect to a surface (M) perpendicular to a central axis (L) of the insertion tube, and also the angle of inclination, with respect to the surface (M) perpendicular to the central axis (L) of the insertion tube, of the end surface of the tip end opening is larger toward a base end section () than toward a tip end section (), wherein a predetermined region of the circumferential section toward the base end section () of the end surface of the tip end opening () has a curved shape that protrudes toward the outside, and has a radius of curvature (R) that is equal to or less than the radius of curvature of another region of the circumferential section.

Intraocular lens insertion apparatus

An intraocular lens insertion apparatus includes a distal end member which is inserted through an incision in an eyeball of a patient, an opening member provided for the distal end member through which an intraocular lens is ejected, and an indicator provided for the distal end member. The indicator is used for indicating that an entire part of the opening member is inside a cornea of the eyeball or inside a sclerocornea of the eyeball with respect to an external flap of the incision.

Provided is technology which can prevent plunger deformation and further stabilize an intraocular lens insertion operation, even when an insertion tube section of an intraocular lens insertion apparatus has been further reduced in terms of the diameter thereof and has been made flatter. The intraocular lens insertion apparatus includes: a tip end region where a plunger comes into contact with an intraocular lens main body and an intraocular lens holding section; and a bar-shaped section extending from the rear end of this tip end region to the rear of the plunger. The bar-shaped section has a fixed thickness in the direction of the optical axis of the intraocular lens, and has an increasing thickness in a portion where the distance from the tip end of the tip end region is equal to or greater than a predetermined distance in a direction perpendicular to the optical axis direction and perpendicular to the plunger advancement direction.
