A drivable area setting device and a drivable area setting method, which can perform driving control based on a drivable area also in a road section in which a lane marker is not present. A terminal node specifying unit specifies a terminal node of a lane marker on an entry side and a terminal node of a lane marker on an exit side in a road section, such as an intersection, in which lane marker data are not present, a virtual lane marker generating unit for generating a virtual lane marker linking the terminal node of the lane marker on the entry side to the terminal node of the lane marker on the exit side, and an area setting unit for setting, as a drivable area of a vehicle, an area interposed between the generated virtual lane markers.

Drivable area setting device and drivable area setting method

An automatic driving system mounted on a vehicle includes a navigation device that searches for a route from a current position of the vehicle to a destination, a high precision map unit that generates detail information of the route based on the searched route and map information, and an automatic driving control device that performs automatic control of acceleration and deceleration and steering of the vehicle using at least the detail information. The high precision map unit divides the route into a plurality of block regions and, out of the detail information corresponding to the block regions, outputs the detail information currently required for the automatic control to the automatic driving control device in a unit of block region.

An electronic device having a function of identifying a lane on which a vehicle is traveling based on imaging data includes a white line recognition unit for recognizing a white line based on imaging data taken by a rear camera, a lane width detection unit for detecting a lane width by measuring distances from the vehicle to the right white line and to the left white line, a lane change detection unit for detecting a lane change based on the detection result by the lane width detection unit, a lane number increase detection unit for detection an increase in the number of lanes based on the detection result by the lane width detection unit, and a traveling lane identifying unit for identifying a lane on which the vehicle is traveling based on the detection results of the lane width detection unit and the lane number increase detection unit.

Lane travel limit zones (between a lane route deviation point and a first lane change limit point and between the lane route deviation point and a second lane change limit point), in which a lane change to a route is prohibited, are set according to the lane. If a vehicle may enter a set lane travel limit zone, a guide is provided to prompt the vehicle to make a lane change or maintain the traveling lane, according to the vehicle position and the lane on which the vehicle is traveling. To set lane travel limit zones, the lane route deviation point, which is an end point of a lane on which the vehicle can travel, the first and second lane route deviation points, which are limit points to assure that the vehicle completes a lane change before reaching the lane route deviation point, are calculated.
