There is provided an outboard motor. A first oil passage is provided in a lower case, extends upward from a front lower portion, and reaches a first connection position which is positioned above a height position of an anti-ventilation plate or at a front portion of a boundary portion between a middle case and the lower case. A second oil passage is provided in the lower case or at the boundary portion, extends rearward from the first connection position, and reaches a second connection position which is positioned at a rear upper portion or at the rear portion of the boundary portion. A first oil supply/discharge port is opened on a side surface of the rear upper portion of the lower case or on a side surface of the rear portion of the boundary portion, and communicates with the second oil passage at the second connection position.

A propeller unit of a marine propulsion apparatus includes: an inner hub; an outer hub arranged coaxially with the inner hub, connected to the inner hub, and provided with a plurality of blades on its outer circumferential surface; and a bushing having a hollow shaft member provided with ribs on an outer circumferential surface and connected to the propeller shaft, and a damper formed of an elastic member and arranged to cover an outer circumferential surface of the hollow shaft member between the outer circumferential surface of the hollow shaft member and the inner circumferential surface of the inner hub, wherein the bushing is spline-coupled to the propeller shaft through spline teeth formed on an inner circumferential surface of a front half or rear half of a longitudinal direction of the hollow shaft member, and has a breakable portion provided in a part corresponding to the non-spline-toothed portion.

An electric shift actuator is provided in an engine cover in which an engine of an upper unit is accommodated, a forward/reverse shift mechanism is provided in a lower unit, and a shift transmission mechanism including a clutch rod is provided to transmit driving force of the electric shift actuator to the forward/reverse shift mechanism by connecting the electric shift actuator with the forward/reverse shift mechanism, in which the clutch rod is disposed vertically in an intermediate unit on the rear side of a drive shaft that transmits driving force of the engine.

Shifting device for outboard motor

An outboard motor includes a gear housing configured to rotatably house a propeller shaft that transmits a rotative power output from an engine to a propeller device. The gear housing includes a torpedo shape portion and a strut portion. The torpedo shape portion has a shape tapered toward a front side, and a shape biased upward toward the front side. The strut portion is disposed on an upper side of the torpedo shape portion. An outer peripheral surface of the torpedo shape portion is smoothly coupled to an outer peripheral surface of the strut portion via first to third curved surfaces. The first to third curved surfaces are each a curved surface inclined rearward and downward, a curved surface parallel to a front-rear direction, or a curved surface constituted of a part inclined rearward and downward and a part parallel to the front-rear direction.

The outboard motor includes a lower unit that rotatably supports a propeller shaft installed with propellers, and a shift unit that switches a shift position. The lower unit is provided with an upwardly opened shift unit storage chamber and a lid member that covers the upper side of the shift unit storage chamber. The shift unit has a dog clutch that switches the shift position by reciprocating in parallel with the drive shaft, a shift fork member that reciprocates the dog clutch in parallel with the drive shaft, and an actuator that reciprocates the shift fork member in parallel with the drive shaft. The actuator is supported by the lid member.

The outboard motor includes a lower unit that rotatably supports a propeller shaft and a shift unit that switches a shift position. A drive shaft that transmits rotational power to the propeller shaft has upper and lower drive shafts provided coaxially and in series, end to end. The shift unit has an upper gear rotating in synchronization with the upper drive shaft, a lower gear provided rotatably with respect to the lower drive shaft, an intermediate gear that transmits rotation of the upper gear to the lower gear, and a bearing that rotatably supports the middle shaft provided with the intermediate gear. The intermediate gear and the bearing are modularized and are detachably installed to the lower unit.

An outboard motor includes a drive shaft that transmits rotational power from the engine, and a shift unit provided in the middle of the drive shaft. The shift unit has a dog clutch that reciprocates in parallel with the drive shaft, a shift fork member that reciprocates the dog clutch in parallel with the drive shaft, and a linear motion type actuator that reciprocates the shift fork member in parallel with the drive shaft. The actuator is arranged in the vicinity of the front side of the dog clutch such that the direction of the rectilinear motion of the screw shaft is in parallel with the axial line of the drive shaft, and the shift fork member is connected to the screw shaft.

An outboard motor has a driveshaft and a propeller shaft connected to each other while placing gears in between in a casing of a lower unit. A cooling water passage structure of the motor has main water intakes provided on the left and right of the casing, a cooling water passage which guides therethrough water taken up through the main water intakes to a cooling water pump, and sub water intakes disposed on the left and right of the pointed portion of the gear case provided to the casing to give an appearance of bullet in the front-back direction. The sub water intake on the left is allowed to communicate through a left cooling water passage with the main water intake on the left. The sub water intake on the right is allowed to communicate through a right cooling water passage with the main water intake on the right.
