A method and an electronic device are provided in which, in a first unit pixel of an image sensor, a first analog-to-digital conversion (ADC) is performed by reading out a first photodiode (PD) group and a second PD group that is adjacent to the first PD group in a first direction. A second ADC is performed by reading out a third PD group that is adjacent to the first PD group in a second direction. The second direction is perpendicular to the first direction. A third ADC is performed by reading out a fourth PD group that is adjacent to the second PD group in the second direction. A first phase difference in the second direction is detected based on the first ADC, the second ADC, and the third ADC. A second phase difference in the first direction is detected based on the second ADC and the third ADC.

An electronic device is provided. The electronic device includes an image sensor and at least one processor connected via at least one interface to the image sensor. The image sensor may obtain first image data corresponding to an N-th frame, and provide, together with the first image data obtained, to the at least one processor via the at least one interface, configuration information of second image data corresponding to an N+k-th frame which is to be provided subsequent to the N-th frame. The DDI may drive the display panel in a plurality of cycles to output one frame corresponding to the first frame rate. The one or more processors may be configured to receive a signal for capturing a moving image and to acquire a first plurality of image frames according to a first frame rate through the image sensor in response to the signal, the first image frames comprising a first image frame and a second image frame corresponding to an external object. The acquiring operation comprises an operation of generating a first part of a moving image according to a second frame rate, which is lower than the first frame rate, using some image frames among the first plurality of image frames. The one or more processors may be configured to determine a change related to the external object at least on the basis of a brightness difference between a first brightness corresponding to the first image frame and a second brightness corresponding to the second image frame, to acquire a second plurality of image frames corresponding to the external object, when the change satisfies a predesignated condition, through the image sensor according to the first frame rate or a third frame rate that is different from the first frame rate, and to generate a second part of the moving image using one or more image frames among the second plurality of image frames.
