Musical score of a music piece is divided into a plurality of displaying portions, and display progression information is supplied which defines a shift or jump, in the displaying portions, of a performed measure based on a repeat sign. Next displaying portion to be displayed following a current displaying portion is determined, and display switching timing at which the current performance progression of the music piece shifts from the current displaying portion to the next displaying portion is detected on the basis of the display progression information and performance progression information. By switching between the displaying portions in response to detection of the display switching timing, sequential switching from the current displaying portion to the next displaying portion can take place appropriately in accordance with progression of the performance. Because the display progression information pre-defines a shift of the performed measure based on a repeat sign, it is possible to readily perform the switching between the displaying portions in response to such a shift or jump of the performed measure. Musical score display apparatus and method

There is provided an apparatus for displaying musical score data in a display area. In the apparatus, a specifying device specifies a display range of original musical score data. An extracting device extracts musical score data included in the display range from the original musical score data and extracts musical information precluded from the display range but influencing the extracted musical score data from the original musical score data. A determining device determines whether a supplementary display is necessary or not in accordance with the specified display range. A setting device divides the display area into a main display area and an auxiliary display area when the supplementary display is necessary. A display device displays the extracted musical score data in the main display area and concurrently displays the extracted musical information in the auxiliary display area. The display area may be divided into a plurality of display sub areas. A display format is specified for each of the display sub areas in accordance with setting of the division of the display area. The original musical score data is processed to generate musical score data compliant with the display format.

Automatic performance apparatus and a karaoke apparatus

A voice converter provides for pitch and formant shifting of an input voice signal. An audio filter extracts the volume level of the input voice signal, and outputs the extracted volume level as first volume data. A second audio filter extracts the volume level of an output voice signal, and outputs the extracted volume level as second volume data. A difference judging circuit compares the first and second volume data with each other, and determines a volume gain and a distorting factor which is supplied to a distortion circuit. When the volume of the output voice after conversion is smaller than that of the input voice, the volume gain is increased. In a case where the input voice is to be shifted toward higher frequencies, when the volume of the output voice after conversion is smaller than that of the input voice, it is determined that the volume of a high-pitched sound region is insufficient, and the distorting factor is increased in order to enlarge the amount of higher harmonics which are to be added to the input voice.

Voice converter

In a karaoke apparatus, a tone generator responds to a request of a karaoke song for generating musical tones of the karaoke song having a given gender so as to accompany a live singing voice having an actual gender. A voice changer is provided for selectively conducting either of male-to-female conversion effective to upward shift a pitch of the live singing voice and female-to-male conversion effective to downward shift a pitch of the live singing voice. A voice analyzer is provided for analyzing the live singing voice to determine the actual gender of the live singing voice. A parameter generator is provided for comparing the determined actual gender of the live singing voice with the given gender of the karaoke song so as to control the voice changer to select either of the male-to-female conversion and the female-to-male conversion if the actual gender differs from the given gender so that the pitch of the live singing voice can be shifted to match the given gender of the karaoke song.

A voice processing apparatus modulates an input voice into an output voice according to a parameter set. In the voice processing apparatus, a microphone inputs an audio signal which represents an input voice having a frequency spectrum specific to the input voice. An audio signal processor is configured by a parameter set to process the audio signal according to the parameter set to modify the frequency spectrum of the input voice. A parameter table is provided for storing a plurality of parameter sets, each of which differently characterizes modification of the frequency spectrum by the audio signal processor. A CPU selects a desired one of the parameter sets from the parameter table, and configures the audio signal processor by the selected parameter set. A loudspeaker outputs the audio signal which is processed by the audio signal processor and which represents an output voice characterized by the selected parameter set.
