A dye transfer sheet for heat-sensitive transfer recording which has an ink layer containing a sublimable dye formed on a base film, said sublimable dye being of the formula: ##STR1## wherein --B represents ##STR2## --Z.sup.1 and --Z.sup.2 each represents hydrogen, alkyl optionally substituted by fluorine, alkoxy, halogen or --NHB, K represents ##STR3## --R.sup.1, --R.sup.2, --R.sup.6 and --R.sup.7 each represents hydrogen, C.sub.1 -C.sub.8 substituted or unsubstituted alkyl, substituted or unsubstituted vinyl, allyl or aryl, --R.sup.3, --R.sup.4 and --R.sup.5 each represents hydrogen or methyl, --X represents hydrogen, alkyl optionally substituted by fluorine, alkoxy, formylamino, alkylcarbonylamino optionally substituted by fluorine, arylcarbonylamino or halogen, and --Y represents hydrogen, alkyl optionally substituted by fluorine, alkoxy or halogen.

A transfer sheet for heat sensitive transfer recording is disclosed, comprising a base film having provided thereon a coloring layer containing a dye represented by formula ##STR2## wherein R.sup.1 represents a substituted or unsubstituted alkyl group, a substituted or unsubstituted aralkyl group, or an allyl group; R.sup.2 and R.sup.3 each represents a hydrogen atom, a substituted or unsubstituted alkyl group, a substituted or unsubstituted aralkyl group, or an allyl group; X and Y each represents a hydrogen atom, an alkoxy group, an alkyl group, or a halogen atom; and n represents 1 or 2. The transfer sheet provides a transferred image excellent in uniformity, color density, color reproduction, and preservability.

A process for preparing a disazo dye represented by the following formula: ##STR1## wherein R.sup.1 and R.sup.2 each represents a hydrogen atom, a halogen atom, a nitro group, a trifluoromethyl group, a lower alkoxycarbonyl group or a lower alkylsulfonyl group, R.sup.3 represents a lower alkyl or allyl group which may optionally have a substituent or substituents, and R.sup.4 represents a lower alkyl or allyl group having a substituent or substituents, which comprises diazotizing an amine represented by the following formula: ##STR2## wherein R.sup.1 and R.sup.2 are the same as defined above, and coupling the diazotized product with a bis(N,N-di-substituted anilino)methane represented by the following formula: ##STR3## wherein R.sup.3 and R.sup.4 are the same as defined above.

An optical recording medium is disclosed, comprising a support having provided thereon a recording layer containing a naphtholactam dye represented by formula: ##STR1## wherein K represents a substituted or unsubstituted aromatic amine residue; R represents a substituted or unsubstituted alkyl group, a substituted or unsubstituted cycloalkyl group, a substituted or unsubstituted aryl group, or a substituted or unsubstituted allyl group; Z.sup.- represents an anion; ring A represents a substituted or unsubstituted naphthalene ring; and m represents 1 or 2. The recording layer can be formed by coating easily, has a high reflectance to provide a satisfactory contrast of recording, and exhibits excellent resistance to light.

A spiroxazine compound represented by the formula: ##STR1## wherein R.sup.1 and R.sup.2 each represents an alkyl group, an allyl group, an aryl group or an aralkyl group; rings A and B each represents a substituted or unsubstituted benzene ring, a substituted or unsubstituted naphthalene ring or a substituted or unsubstituted heterocyclic ring; X represents an oxygen atom or a sulfur atom; and n represents an integer of from 1 to 6, and a photochromic composition containing said spiroxazine compound are disclosed. The compound is excellent in compatibility to and solubility in high molecular weight compounds, and the composition containing the same stably develops a color of high density upon irradiation of ultraviolet rays.

The dyestuffs dye polyester fibers in a brilliant reddish-blue or blue shade and have good fastness properties, excellent temperature stability and pH stability in dyeing.

The transfer recording method which comprises heating a transfer sheet having a color material layer containing a sublimable dye on a base according to the image information received, thereby subliming said sublimable dye and transfer recording it on an image receiving layer of a recording sheet, a transfer recording method which is characterized by that the image receiving layer of the recording sheet contains a compound capable of reacting with the sublimable dye contained in the color material layer of the transfer sheet.
