A plunger is movable between a first position and a second position. The plunger separates a first movable contact from a first fixed contact and separates a second movable contact from a second fixed contact at the first position. The plunger presses a first movable piece toward a first fixed terminal to make the first movable contact into contact with the first fixed contact, and presses a second movable piece toward a second fixed terminal to make the second movable contact into contact with the second fixed contact at the second position. The plunger moves from the first position to the second position by being pressed by a pressing portion of an electric plug inserted into a third insertion port.

A first fixed terminal extends in a first direction. A second fixed terminal extends in the first direction and is disposed apart from the first fixed terminal in a second direction perpendicular to the first direction. A first magnet generates a magnetic field that applies a first Lorentz force in a first oblique direction to an arc generated at a first fixed contact and a first movable contact. The first oblique direction is a direction that is inclined with respect to the first direction and oriented away from the second fixed terminal. A second magnet generates a magnetic field that applies a second Lorentz force in a second oblique direction to an arc generated at a second fixed contact and a second movable contact. The second oblique direction is a direction that is inclined with respect to the first direction and oriented away from the first fixed terminal.

A control circuit for a switch device including a first switch element including a movable contact and a drive coil that controls the movable contact of the first switch element, the control circuit for returning the movable contact when the drive coil turns off the movable contact after the drive coil turns on the movable contact during supply of a source voltage from a power source, the control circuit includes a second switch element inserted between a rectifier circuit or a surge absorbing element and the first switch element, the second switch element being turned off when the supply of the source voltage is turned off. A contact mechanism has a base, a pair of fixed contact terminals provided side by side on the base, a first contact mechanism including a first fixed contact provided in one of the pair of fixed contact terminals, and a first movable contact that contactably and separably faces the first fixed contact, a second contact mechanism including a second fixed contact provided in another of the pair of fixed contact terminals, and a second movable contact that contactably and separably faces the second fixed contact, and a magnetic field generation unit having a permanent magnet disposed between the first contact mechanism and the second contact mechanism such that magnetic fields in opposite directions are generated respectively between contacts of the first contact mechanism and between contacts of the second contact mechanism when currents in opposite directions flow in the first contact mechanism and the second contact mechanism.
