Photocurable (meth)acrylate compositions

Disclosed is a two-component curable polymeric system having increased viscosity. One component contains a homogeneous blend of a polyisocyanate and a homopolymer or copolymer of vinyl acetate. This component has a higher viscosity than the polyisocyanate alone, thereby increasing the viscosity of the two-component curable system. The other component of the two-component curable system is a composition containing an isocyanate reactive component. The polyisocyanate and the isocyanate reactive component react together ('cure') to form a polymer. Typically, but not always, the isocyanate reactive component is a polyol or polyamine that is capable of reacting with the polyisocyanate, thereby forming a polyurethane (polyol) or polyurea (polyamine).

Disclosed is modified silica filler material wherein the silica filler material has been surface treated with both an alkyl silane and an alkenyl silane. The modified silica filler material, when included in an elastomeric composition, results in lower compression set and improved mechanical properties including viscosity, tensile strength, modulus and elongation. The filler material can be used at high levels in elastomeric compositions and does not raise the viscosity to unusable levels. The elastomeric composition including the modified filler material finds special use in the formation of gaskets for fuel cells.

The present invention relates to liquid dual curing (moisture) and photocuring adhesives which are optically transparent/clear. More particularly, the present invention relates to liquid optically transparent/clear adhesives having at least one photo- and/or heat-curable polyolefin-based oligomer, with or without a moisture-curable polyolefin-based oligomer; a curative package to trigger and/or accelerate cure of the oligomer(s) under appropriate cure conditions; and at least one polyolefin-based polyurethane that is not reactive under the cure conditions with the photo- and/or heat-curable polyolefin-based oligomer or the moisture-curable polyolefin-based oligomer. The present invention also relates to optical assemblies that include such optically clear adhesives.

Dual curing optically transparent adhesive compositions

Polymerizable compositions are provided that contain an epoxy compound and a polymerizable, ethylenically-unsaturated resin having an acid functional group where the epoxy compound is polymerized by cationic polymerization initiated by the acid functional group and the polymerizable, ethylenically-unsaturated resin is polymerized by free-radical polymerization. To that end, a two-part polymerizable composition is provided that has a first part containing the epoxy compound; and a second part containing the polymerizable, ethylenically-unsaturated resin having an acid functional group. The first part and/or the second part further contain a radical initiator effective to initiate either self-curing or light-curing by free-radical polymerization.

A self etching, dental cement composition is provided having the advantage of not requiring a separate etching and bonding step. The cement composition comprises a polymerizable (meth)acrylate trimellitic acid/anhydride, a phosphoric acid (meth)acrylate, a hydroxyalkyl(meth)acrylate, copolymerizable multi-functional (meth)acrylate monomers, a diluent, fillers, and a curing system. A filler for a dental resin composition is disclosed, comprising silica particles derived from a nanoparticulate silica sol, the filler material having at least one crystalline phase. The filler material provides improved wear resistance and other properties.
