A jig for producing optical parts comprises a base stand for stacking ten individuals of fiber coil reels around which optical fibers are wound in a predetermined number of turns respectively, and array-holding mechanisms provided on a circumferential surface of the base stand, for downwardly exposing respective end surfaces of arrays secured to ends of the plurality of optical fibers led from the respective stacked fiber coil reels. Accordingly, it is possible to highly accurately polish the end surfaces of the array members secured to the ends of the optical fibers led from the plurality of reels respectively. It is possible to eliminate almost all dispersion in polishing accuracy among the array members, and it is possible to produce the optical parts highly accurately with a good yield.

An assembly jig for assembling a phase-modulation-type optical fiber gyro has a reel support area for supporting a fiber coil reel with an elongate optical fiber wound therearound and a coupler reel with optical fibers from a coupler wound therearound, the fiber coil reel and the coupler reel being rotatably supported on a base plate of the assembly jig through a support shaft. The assembly jig also has a chip support base disposed on the base plate for temporarily supporting thereon the optical IC chip optically connected to the optical fibers, a package housing support base disposed on the base plate for supporting a package housing of a package to encase the optical IC chip therein and substantially packaging the optical IC chip with the package housing, and a lid support base disposed on the base plate for supporting a lid to cover the package housing. The assembly jig allows the optical fiber gyro to be assembly easily at a reduced cost.

Disclosed is an optical fiber gyroscope comprising a fiber coil composed of a lengthy optical fiber wound therearound in a predetermined number of turns, a coupler for optically coupling an optical fiber led from a light source and an optical fiber led to a photodetector, and an optical IC chip arranged between the fiber coil and the coupler and provided with a phase modulator and a polarizer mounted on an optical waveguide, the optical fiber gyroscope further comprising a fiber coil reel around which the lengthy optical fiber for constructing the fiber coil is wound in the predetermined number of turns, a coupler reel around which the optical fibers led in both directions from the coupler are wound in a predetermined number of turns, and a housing member including a plurality of compartments (reel-placing region, frame, frame) for accommodating at least the both reels, the light source, and the optical IC chip. Accordingly, the optical fiber gyroscope can be easily assembled in unit, and it is possible to effectively reduce the production cost of the optical fiber gyroscope.

An apparatus for displaying a three-dimensional image of a plurality of tomographic images by storing pictorial information of a tomographic image in an image convering element, forming interference fringes between a reading light beam which is transmitted through the image converting element and is modulated in accordance with the pictorial information stored therein and a reference light beam, and recording the interference fringes on a photographic plate. A three-dimensional image is reproduced by projecting the reference light beam onto the thus developed photographic plate. The image converting element is formed by a Pockels readout optical modulator. An intensity and position of a coherent light beam is modulated in accordance with the pictorial information of the tomographic image, and the thus modulated coherent reading light beam is made incident upon the Pockels readout optical modulator.
