A contact member provided inside a cylindrical contact holder of a female terminal has a diameter variable portion including a number of metal string members whose both ends are held by front side and rear side holding rings. When a slider is moved in a connector engaged state, a linear movement of a cam projection provided on the slider is converted into a rotational movement of a rotary ring by a cam groove, so that the front side holding ring fixed to the rotary ring is rotated to apply a twist to the diameter variable portion, whereby the metal string members are deformed into a hyperboloidal shape and the smallest inner diameter portion thereof is brought into pressure contact with a male terminal.

Connector device

A female terminal includes a terminal body having a contact holder in a tubular shape at a front side of the terminal body, a contact member in a tubular shape which is contained inside the contact holder and into which a male terminal is inserted from a front side, and a rotary ring which is mounted to the contact holder. The contact member has a pair of holding rings provided at both ends thereof, and a diameter variable part held by a pair of the holding rings at both ends thereof, an inner diameter of the diameter variable part being set to be larger than an outer diameter of the male terminal in an initial state, and contracted to be smaller than the outer diameter of the male terminal, by twisting a pair of the holding rings.

Female terminal

Provided are a male terminal main body () of a male terminal (), an uneven portion () formed, on an outer peripheral surface of the male terminal main body (), of a plurality of ridges () and a plurality of grooves (), a tubular female terminal main body () of the female terminal (), and a spring contact () housed in the female terminal main body () in such a manner that a plurality of leaf spring pieces () provided corresponding to the ridges () are moved from positions facing the grooves () to positions facing the ridges () by a relative movement of the male terminal main body () and are in elastic contact with the ridges ().

Terminal structure

An elastic contact member () formed as a member separate from an electrical connector () for a male terminal to be inserted, installed in the electrical connector (), and gets into contact with the male terminal inserted in the electrical connector (). The elastic contact member () includes: first elastic contact pieces () formed with a space (S) in between in a widthwise direction (Y), cantilevered at one end side, in the insertion direction (X), of a surface of the elastic contact member () extending in the insertion direction (X), and configured to get into contact with the male terminal inserted into the electrical connector (); and a second elastic contact piece () disposed in the space (S) and configured to get into contact with the male terminal inserted into the electrical connector ().

A terminal contact point structure includes: an insertion portion for a conduction portion of a counterpart terminal to be inserted; and contact portions disposed at the insertion portion and configured to contact the conduction portion of the counterpart terminal. The contact portions are disposed in a plurality of rows in a direction perpendicular to an insertion direction of the conduction portion of the counterpart terminal to form a contact group. The contact portions in the contact group are positioned displaced to each other backward-forward in the insertion direction to contact, at different timings respectively, the conduction portion of the counterpart terminal being inserted.

Terminal contact point structure and terminal having the same

An electrical connector for a male terminal to be inserted includes an elastic contact member provided in at least one of surfaces of the electrical connector extending in an insertion direction of the male terminal. The elastic contact member is configured to get into contact with the male terminal. The elastic contact member includes: first elastic contact pieces formed with a space in between in a widthwise direction orthogonal to the insertion direction, cantilevered at one end side of the at least one surface in the insertion direction, and configured to get into contact with the male terminal inserted in the electrical connector; and a second elastic contact piece disposed in the space and configured to get into contact with the male terminal inserted in the electrical connector.
