A fluid manifold includes a fluid port near to a first end of a fluid manifold, the fluid manifold having an elongated design extending from the first end to a second end. The fluid manifold also includes a number of distributing ports disposed along a length of the fluid manifold between the first end and the second end. The length and form factor of the manifold, and the distribution ports including port number as well as their distances are innovatively designed for different rack configurations. Each distributing port is configured to engage with a flexible hose connected to a cooling system of an electronic device. Rack manifolds with the same design can support different server arrangements in a liquid cooled IT rack. The fluid manifold also includes a mounting mechanism configured to engage with an opening defined in a portion of a back panel of an electronic rack.

Electronic rack fluid distribution system

A battery system can provide backup power for information technology (IT) equipment. In response to a lithium ion based battery being inactive (not charging or discharging), a temperature of the battery can be maintained at or below an optimal storage temperature of the battery, using a primary cooling system. If the primary cooling system is insufficient, the temperature can be maintained at or below the optimal storage temperature with a secondary cooling system that runs in addition to the primary system. The optimal storage temperature of the battery is determined based on an effort to cool the battery and a degradation of the battery.

According to one embodiment, a hybrid cooling system includes a cold plate that is arranged to mount on an IT component that is mounted on a piece of IT equipment, the cold plate is arranged to receive coolant via a supply line and to return warmed coolant via a return line, the warmed coolant is produced by the cold plate when the cold plate is in contact with the IT component and heat generated by the IT component is transferred into the coolant by the cold plate; a TEC element that is arranged to couple to the IT component; and a heat sink that includes a base that is arranged to couple to the TEC element and one or more fins, the TEC element is configured to transfer at least a portion of the heat generated by the IT component into the one or more fins of the heat sink.

In one embodiment, an autonomous driving system to autonomously drive an autonomous driving vehicle (ADV) includes one or more processors, a perception module executed by the processors to perceive a driving environment surrounding the ADV, and a planning module executed by the processors to plan a path based on perception data of the driving environment to navigate through the driving environment. The processors are mounted on one or more cold plates coupled to a vehicle cooling system of the ADV, the vehicle cooling system having a first radiator and a first coolant distribution loop coupled to a vehicle engine of the ADV to provide liquid cooling to the vehicle engine. The cold plates are coupled to the first radiator via a second coolant distribution loop to receive a portion of the coolant from the first radiator to extract heat from the cold plates.

A method of controlling a fan speed for a battery unit includes determining power discharge and a current temperature of a battery unit and obtaining a relationship between fan speed for the battery unit and temperature of the battery unit based on the power discharge and the current temperature of the battery unit. The method further includes identifying a minimum fan speed based on the relationship between fan speed and temperature and a maximum operating temperature of the battery unit and controlling the fan by setting the speed of the fan to the minimum fan speed.

A cooling and heating system for an electronic component comprises a thermoelectric element disposed near the electronic component and an electrical circuit for a bidirectional current, where the thermoelectric element is connected to the electrical circuit for the bidirectional current. The cooling and heating system further comprises a controller configured to control a current flow direction of the bidirectional current in the thermoelectric element to cool or heat the electronic component, where whether the electronic component is to be cooled or heated is based on the current flow direction of the bidirectional current in the thermoelectric element.

An electronic rack includes an array of server blades arranged in a stack. Each server blade contains one or more servers and each server includes one or more processors to provide data processing services. The electronic rack includes a coolant distribution unit (CDU) and a rack management unit (RMU). The CDU supplies cooling liquid to the processors and receives the cooling liquid carrying heat from the processors. The CDU includes a liquid pump to pump the cooling liquid. The RMU is configured to manage the operations of the components within the electronic rack such as CDU, etc. The RMU includes control logic to determine an optimal pump speed to minimize the total power consumption of the pump, acceleration servers and the host servers, based on the one or more parameters and the association between temperature and power consumption of the acceleration servers and the host servers. The RMU then controls the liquid pump based on the optimal pump speed.

According to one embodiment, an automatic transfer switch (ATS) module for an electronic rack includes a container and four pairs of relays that are disposed within the container, each pair having a first relay connected in series with a second relay. A first two pairs of relays are arranged to connect to a first power source and are arranged to connect to a power supply unit, and a second two pairs of relays are arranged to connect to a second power source and are arranged to connect to the power supply unit. The four pairs of relays are arranged in one of several open-closed configurations, such that in a first open-closed configuration the first source connects to the power supply unit through a first two pairs of relays and in a second open-closed configuration the second source connects to the power supply unit through a second two pairs of relays.

According to one embodiment, a battery backup unit (BBU) with a louver design includes a container, a battery module having one or more battery cells, a first louver at a frontend of the container, a second louver at a backend of the container, and a control mechanism that is coupled to both the first and second louvers and is configured to open and close the louvers. Also, the battery module and the control mechanism are disposed within the container. In another embodiment, a BBU shelf with a similar louver design that includes one or more battery modules may be implemented within an electronic rack.

Thermal management of a backup battery unit for datacenter applications is described. In one embodiment, a backup battery unit includes one or more battery cells immersed in cooling liquid contained in an immersion tank. The immersion tank includes a temperature sensor. The battery unit also includes a first direct-current to-direct-current (DC/DC) converter electronically coupled to the battery cells and to an external power source for converting and controlling a charging voltage obtained from the external power source to charge the battery cells. The backup battery unit also includes a cooling-liquid pump for driving cooling liquid to the battery cells. The backup battery unit also includes a microcontroller coupled to the temperature sensor, the first DC/DC converter, and the cooling-liquid pump. The microcontroller is configured to control operations of the cooling-liquid pump based on temperature data obtained from the temperature sensor and an electrical current of the first DC/DC converter.

A holder for connecting a rack manifold of an electronic rack and a room manifold of a data center room to provide liquid cooling to the electronic rack includes an L-shaped frame with a first arm having a first end and a second end, and a second arm extending from the second end of the first arm and substantially perpendicular to the first arm. The holder additionally includes a pivot point to be coupled to a pivot connector on a panel to pivotally move the L-shaped frame between a first position and a second position. The holder further includes a first blind-mate connector disposed on the L-shaped frame to be coupled to a second blind-mate connector at an engagement interface. The first blind-mate connector and the second blind-mate connector are coupled in response to the L-shaped frame moving to the second position in response to contact with the electronic rack.
