A screen freezing processing method and a terminal are provided. The method includes: displaying a user interface of an application, and receiving an operation on the user interface, where the operation on the user interface is used to implement a first function; skipping responding to, by the terminal within first duration, the operation on the user interface, and skipping implementing the first function; and after the first duration, responding to, by the terminal, the operation on the user interface, and implementing the first function. This technical solution can automatically restore implementation of the first function, thereby improving user experience.

A method, computer program product, computer system, and the like that provide for the efficient reclamation of storage space in a deduplication system are disclosed. The method, for example, includes identifying one or more storage constructs of a number of storage constructs and generating an indication that a reclamation operation is to be performed with respect to the one or more storage constructs. In an embodiment, each of the plurality of storage constructs includes metadata and a number of units of data. The one or more storage constructs are identified, at least in part, by determining that a portion of the number of units of data of each of the one or more storage constructs is in a state, wherein the determining is based, at least in part, on at least a portion of the metadata.

Efficient space reclamation in deduplication systems

Disclosed herein are methods, systems, and processes to optimize and manage fingerprint backward compatibility in deduplication backup computing systems. A new fingerprint is generated for a segment object stored in a data container based on a new fingerprinting process. A header file is modified by replacing an old fingerprint for the segment object based on an old fingerprinting process with the new fingerprint. An entry including information indicating an association between the old fingerprint and the new fingerprint is created in a fingerprint map file.

Fingerprint backward compatibility in deduplication backup systems

Various methods, systems, and processes for mitigating fragmentation in synthetic full backups are disclosed. One or more storage units out of multiple storage units are identified. The multiple storage units include one or more new storage units or one or more existing storage units. The multiple storage units are accessed and a determination is made as to whether the one or more storage units out of the multiple storage units meet a threshold. The threshold is a measure of a characteristic of those one or more storage units. If one or more storage units meet the threshold, those one or more storage units are included in a backup stream, and the backup stream is sent to a backup server.

Fragmentation mitigation in synthetic full backups

The disclosed computer-implemented method for healing images in deduplication storage may include (i) detecting that a data segment stored within deduplication storage is corrupted by executing an algorithm on the data segment to generate a numerical identifier for the data segment and determining that the numerical identifier does not match a previously stored numerical identifier for the data segment, (ii) checking, during a backup operation, whether a digital fingerprint of a data segment of an image being backed up matches a digital fingerprint of the corrupted data segment that was taken prior to corruption and that is already stored within the deduplication storage, and (iii) appending the data segment from the image being backed up to a container that already contains the corrupted data segment rather than replacing the corrupted data segment. Various other methods, systems, and computer-readable media are also disclosed.

Systems and methods for healing images in deduplication storage

The present disclosure provides for implementing a two-level fingerprint caching scheme for a client cache and a server cache. The client cache hit ratio can be improved by pre-populating the client cache with fingerprints that are relevant to the client. Relevant fingerprints include fingerprints used during a recent time period (e.g., fingerprints of segments that are included in the last full backup image and any following incremental backup images created for the client after the last full backup image), and thus are referred to as fingerprints with good temporal locality. Relevant fingerprints also include fingerprints associated with a storage container that has good spatial locality, and thus are referred to as fingerprints with good spatial locality. A pre-set threshold established for the client cache (e.g., threshold Tc) is used to determine whether a storage container (and thus fingerprints associated with the storage container) has good spatial locality.

Locality aware, two-level fingerprint caching

A method for managing deduplication reference data may include (1) identifying multiple of data containers configured to store a plurality of deduplicated data segments that are referenced by multiple data objects within a deduplicated data system, (2) maintaining multiple reference databases including (i) a first reference database corresponding to a first subset of the data containers and (ii) a second reference database corresponding to a second subset of the data containers, the second subset differing from the first subset, (3) determining that a data object references at least one segment within a first data container within the first subset but does not reference any data segment within a second data container within the second subset and (4) updating the first reference database with information specifying that the data object references at least one data segment within at least one data container within the first subset of data containers.
