An automatic paper feeder for an image-scanning device with a pressure-adjustable mechanism for adjusting the paper feeding roller of the automatic paper feeder is disclosed. A pressure from paper sheets stacked on a paper tray of the automatic paper feeder is detected by a paper tray pressure detecting mechanism and transferred to a roller pressure adjusting mechanism to change a pressure between the paper feeding roller and a paper separating plate and adjust a feeding angle of the movable paper tray.

A document surface micro-adjust mechanism for an optical scanner. The optical scanner has an outer casing with a transparent document platform in the upper section. An optical lens is enclosed inside the outer casing. The document surface micro-adjust mechanism uses a carrier chassis to embed the transparent document platform. One end of the carrier chassis is hinged upon the upper wall of the outer casing while the other end of the carrier chassis has a through hole to be engaged to a locking hole on a latching structure attached to the upper section of the outer casing. A locking element passes through the through-hole to engage with the locking hole. An elastic element is positioned between the carrier chassis and the latching structure. Depth of the locking element inside the locking hole may be adjusted to vary optical distance from the document surface of the transparent document platform to the optical lens inside the scanner.

A paper conveying apparatus and method for flipping paper includes a paper feeding roller that can rotate in a positive direction or in a reverse direction, a motion transfer member that has one end coupled with the paper feeding roller, and a paper depressing element coupled with another end of the motion transfer member to be driven and rotated. The method of flipping paper includes: first, feeding a sheet of paper into a first paper conveying path; next, depressing the paper into a second paper conveying path while the paper is leaving the first paper conveying path; and reentering the paper from the second paper conveying path into the first paper conveying path upside down.

A double-side scan device for performing a single-side scan operation or a double-side scan operation selectively includes a document conveyer, a first transparent device, a second transparent device, and an image scan module. The image scan module moves to one side of the first transparent device to capture an image of one surface/side of a document and moves to one side of the second transparent device to capture an image of the other surface/side of the document, respectively.

A document scanner with a light focusing device downward formed on a document support panel is disclosed. The document scanner is provided with a chassis including a light source and an image sensing device. A scanning window made of light-transmitting material is formed in an area of the document support panel. A driving roller is arranged in a document feeder for driving a document to be scanned through the scanning window. Light emitted from the light source transmits through the scanning window toward the document and is reflected by the document toward the image sensing device, The document support panel forms a convex projection on a bottom surface thereof. The projection confronts the light source for focusing the light onto the document. Preferably, the projection includes an extended section from the bottom surface of the document support panel and forming a convex end surface confronting the light source. A light collecting rim is further downward fanned on the document support panel and around the extended section in a direction toward the light source.

A light-source mechanism for an optical scanner includes a chassis, a lamp, a lamp holder and a buffering device between the chassis and the lamp holder. If the buffering device is subjected to an external force of impact and vibration, the buffering device may effectively absorb the influence of the external force, such that the lamp generally will not be damaged.

The present invention relates to a depth of field adjustment device and method for an automatic document feeder. The automatic document feeder has a guiding groove for placing an object to be scanned. The guiding groove has a scanning window for providing image picking-up for an optical chassis. An adjustable suppressing mechanism located at the guiding groove in corresponding to the scanning window may drive the object to be scanned to pass through an optimal depth of field height of the scanning window. First, at least a part of the pre-scanned object is fed in to be located between the adjustable suppressing mechanism and the scanning window. The depth of field height is then adjusted and changed by the adjustable suppressing mechanism. And, the image of the pre-scanned object is compared with a pre-stored image. After the pre-scanned objected has been judged to be located at the optimal depth of field height, the adjustable suppressing mechanism is fixed and the pre-scanned object is sent out. Then, it may achieve a most clear image picking-up for scanning the object to be scanned.

An objective lens anti-shock adjustment device comprises a holder that is capable of fixedly holding an objective lens via at least a fastening element. The holder is mounted in a casing by means of a plurality of resilient elements and a plurality of adjuster screws. The resilient elements connect the holder to the casing and the adjuster screws engage through the casing and abut against the holder opposite to the resilient elements in order to allow the adjustments of a vertical positioning and a horizontal orientation of the objective lens. The holder and the casing are provided with respective openings that expose a slot formed on the objective lens. By the external engagement of a tool through the openings into the slot, the objective lens is slid in the holder in order to adjust the depth of focus.

The integrated paper presser and stopper includes a fixing section, a paper pressing section downward extended from the fixing section at an inclined angle toward a paper-out end of the paper tray, a first bent section formed at a lower end of the paper pressing section to define a first gap, a paper stopping section downward extended from the first bent section at an inclined angle toward the paper-out end of the paper tray, and a second bent section formed at a lower end of the paper stopping section to define a second gap which is smaller than the first gap.
