A method for preparing a photothermographic material comprising an organic silver salt is disclosed, comprising a step of treating the organic silver salt under a gas atmosphere containing an inert gas having a volume fraction of not less than 85% or under a gas atmosphere containing oxygen gas having a volume fraction of not more than 15%. Packaging the photothermographic material under the inert gas atmosphere is also disclosed.

A silver halide photographic light sensitive material comprising a support having thereon a silver halide emulsion layer containing silver halide grains, wherein the silver halide emulsion contains silver halide tabular grains having an aspect ratio of a diameter to a thickness of less than 8 and accounting for at least 70% of the total grain projection area of the emulsion; the tabular grains having a ratio (t/l) of the thickness (t) to the longest distance (l) between two or more parallel twin planes of the tabular grain of not less than 5; total surface of the tabular grain consisting of two parallel principal plane faces and side-faces, and all of the parallel principal plane faces and 90% or less of side-faces are a (111) face.

Silver halide light-sensitive photographic emulsion, a silver halide

A negative type silver halide photographic material having silver halide grains of a core-shell structure. An inner core essentially consists of silver bromide or silver iodobromide and a plurality of shells consists essentially of silver bromide or silver iodobromide. The shells of each silver halide grain have (1) an outermost shell containing silver iodide of 0 to 10 mol %, (2) a highly iodide-containing shell provided inside the outermost shell and having a silver iodide content at least 6 mol % higher than that of the outermost shell, and (3) an intermediate shell provided between the outermost shell and the high iodide-containing shell. The silver iodide content of the intermediate shell is 3 mol % higher than that of the outermost shell and at least 3 mol % lower than that of the high iodide-containing shell.
