A method for quantifying map errors includes receiving first map data and second map data. The method includes receiving a road topographic map. The method further includes dividing the road into road segments. The method further includes creating a plurality of bounding boxes for each of the plurality of road segments. The method includes creating a first map tile and a second map tile by filtering out the bounding boxes. The method includes executing point cloud registration to align the plurality of first data points in the first map tile with the plurality of second data points in the second map tile to determine a plurality of absolute offsets between the plurality of first data points and the plurality of second data points. The method includes determining a relative map error between the first map and the second map based on the absolute offsets.

Method and system for quantifying map errors

A global positioning system (GPS)-bias detection and reduction system including a GPS-bias model having GPS statistical data creating a database representing data collected from a vehicle group having thousands or multiple thousands of vehicles saved in a database. At least one newly collected vehicle GPS data point is compared to the GPS statistical data to reduce negative effects of GPS-bias and to update the vehicle GPS-bias correction based on a previous GPS-bias model. A selected road node and a segment of a roadway have a map matching performed using a nearest service from a collection location of the GPS statistical data. A GPS-bias is calculated using a look-up of the database. An estimated horizontal position error (EHPE) defining a quality indicator is applied to distinguish a good quality GPS statistical data from a poor quality GPS statistical data.

A method of creating a high-definition (HD) map of a roadway includes receiving a multi-layer probability density bitmap. The multi-layer probability density bitmap represents a plurality of lane lines of the roadway sensed by a plurality of sensors of a plurality of vehicles. The multi-layer probability density bitmap includes a plurality of points. The method further includes recursively conducting a hill climbing search using the multi-layer probability density bitmap to create a plurality of lines. In addition, the method includes creating the HD map of the roadway using the plurality of lines determined by the hill climbing search.

A system, method and server for a controlling a relation between a vehicle and traffic flow over a road segment. The system includes a telemetric device of the vehicle and a processor of the server. The telemetric device obtains telemetric data related to the road segment being traversed by the vehicle. The processor determines a property of the road segment based on the telemetric data and a road profile for the road segment, determines a disruption score indicative of a level of disruption in the traffic flow for the road segment based on the property, and outputs a notification signal when the disruption score is above a selected disruption threshold. The notification signal is usable for controlling the relation between the vehicle and the traffic flow.

Systems and method are provided for transmitting data from a vehicle using a Wi-Fi network. A method includes: collecting, by a processor, performance data associated with a plurality of access points in the Wi-Fi network; segmenting, by a processor, a route into a plurality of route segments; mapping, by a processor, the plurality of access points to the plurality of route segments; selecting, by a processor, a set of access points from the plurality of access points based on the collected performance data, wherein the set of access points comprises a selected access point for each route segment of the plurality of route segments; predicting, by a processor, a scanning channel based on the set of access points and a current location of the vehicle; and selectively transmitting, by a processor, packet data based on the set of access points, the scanning channel, and the associated performance data.

In one example implementation, a computer-implemented method includes receiving, by a host processing device, timestamps from a vehicle processing system of a target vehicle, the timestamps being determined based at least in part on parking area data for a target parking area and vehicle data for the target vehicle. Presented are systems and methods for extracting lane-level information of designated road segments by mining vehicle dynamics data traces. A method for controlling operation of a motor vehicle includes: determining the vehicle's location; identifying a road segment corresponding to the vehicle's location; receiving road-level data associated with this road segment; determining a turning angle and centerline for the road segment; receiving vehicle data indicative of vehicle locations and dynamics for multiple vehicles travelling on the road segment; determining, from this vehicle data, trajectory data indicative of start points, end points, and centerline offset distances for these vehicles; identifying total driving lanes for the road segment by processing the trajectory data with a clustering algorithm given the turning angle and centerline; extracting virtual trajectories for the driving lanes; and commanding a vehicle subsystem to execute a control operation based on an extracted virtual trajectory for at least one driving lane.
