An ultrasound system includes a processor circuit that receives an ultrasound image obtained according to a set of ultrasound system settings. The processor circuit determines a quality index representative of the visibility of an anatomical feature for the ultrasound image. In response to determining that the quality index does not meet or exceed a threshold quality index, the processor circuit may provide an output for a new set of ultrasound system settings corresponding to an improvement in quality index. The processor circuit then receives an additional ultrasound image corresponding to the new ultrasound system settings, determines an additional quality index for the additional ultrasound image, determines that the quality index exceeds the threshold quality index, and records the additional ultrasound image.

Completeness of view of anatomy in ultrasound imaging and associated systems, devices, and methods

User feedback on acquisition of ultrasound data may be provided to a user. The feedback may indicate a quality of the acquisition and/or the reliability of the measurements calculated from the ultrasound data, for example, the volume flow measurements calculated from Doppler data. Various quality factors such as a signal-to-noise ratio (SNR), motion, Doppler angle, vessel size, vessel depth, and/or variance in velocity values may be determined to provide an indication of quality of the acquisition. The quality factors may be provided individually or in combination. In some examples, one or more quantitative values of the quality factors may be provided. In some examples, one or more qualitative indications of the quality of the acquisition may be provided.

The invention provides a method for guiding the acquisition of ultrasound data. The method begins by obtaining ultrasound data from a plurality of data acquisition planes and performing spatial registration of the data acquisition planes. A number of vessels are then identified in each data acquisition plane. A location of a vessel bifurcation is then identified based on the spatial registration of the data acquisition planes and the number of vessels in each data acquisition plane. This can ensure that always the correct position of the energy application element, which may be regarded as being a heat source, is considered, even if the energy application element moves, for instance, due to a movement of the object.
