Various systems and methods related to disaster recovery (DR). For example, one method involves automatically discovering infrastructure information for one or more assets located in one or more primary sites and/or one or more recovery sites. The method also involves storing the infrastructure information in a database. The method also involves generating DR configuration information.

Discovery and configuration of disaster recovery information

Various systems and methods for performing disaster recovery (DR) rehearsals. For example, one method involves receiving an instruction to perform a DR rehearsal, where the instruction includes information that identifies an object. The method involves determining one or more assets associated with the object and selecting operations based on the assets. The method also involves performing the DR rehearsal, which involves performing the selected operations.

Disaster recovery rehearsals

Various systems, methods and apparatuses for creating network isolation spanning physical and virtual hosts are presented. In one embodiment, network isolation may be created between a primary (e.g., production) site and a secondary (e.g., a disaster recovery or sandbox) site. The network isolation allows testing (or other uses) on the secondary site to be non-disruptive to the normal operations of the sites, including the ability to failover during testing. Such non-disruptive network isolation allows certain communications to continue, especially communications between ports having replicated data. The network isolation may be customized in various other ways to allow certain communications to continue while preventing other communications. This invention can be used to validate application readiness, as well as to validate data correctness of individual tiers, and may be used with systems that contain multiple tiers, and include physical hosts, virtual hosts, and/or combinations of both.

Automated network isolation for providing non-disruptive disaster recovery testing of multi-tier applications spanning physical and virtual hosts

Techniques for managing disaster recovery sites are disclosed. In one particular embodiment, the techniques may be realized as a method for managing disaster recovery sites comprising generating a heartbeat at a first node, transmitting the heartbeat from the first node to a second node, determining whether a network connection between the first node and the second node has failed, determining whether the second node has received an additional heartbeat from the first node, and changing a state of the secondary node based on the determination of whether the second node has received the additional heartbeat.
