A rack for a datacenter or other environment may define an internal width configured to receive rack-mounted units of a predetermined width. An adapter may enable operation with a computing appliance having a maximum width smaller than the predetermined width. The adapter can include a tray with a footprint having the predetermined width and a mount for supporting the computing appliance within the footprint of the tray. The tray may support a power inverter that receives from a direct current power supply and provides alternating current to the computing appliance. The tray may also support a patch panel having a network port accessible from a front of the tray. The patch panel can be communicatively coupled with the computing appliance to provide networking communication with the computing appliance through the second network port.

Server rack adapter

A rack-mountable server system includes air moving systems, such as fans, to induce airflow inside a server chassis to remove heat generated by components of the server system. The air moving systems are configured to direct air from a cold aisle, through the chassis of the server system, and out to a hot aisle as exhausted air. The server system is configured to be mounted in racks that provide cooling air on either a front or rear side of the rack. Thus, the server system is able to be mounted in a rack in a reversible Input/Output (IO) orientation and can accommodate multiple airflow directions through the server chassis to conform to a hot aisle and cold aisle configuration used for a given rack at a given facility at which the server system is mounted.

Reversible server system

A system can include a key cartridge, which can include a housing, an enabling key component, and an electrical connector. The housing may be sized for placement at least partially over or around a latch release mechanism of a slidable rack sled and in a position to obstruct access to the latch release mechanism. The enabling key component can be positioned within the housing and enable operation of an electrical component situated within the slidable rack sled. The electrical connector can be coupled with the enabling key component and sized and positioned for establishing electrical connection between the enabling key component and the electrical component situated within the slidable rack sled when the pluggable key cartridge is installed relative to the server rack sled.
