An electronic interface device is configured for use with associated optics for employing coded light for illuminating a liquid, gaseous, or other analyte or target, such as for measuring or determining a composition or other property of the analyte or target. The arrangement can help enable a far higher level of performance, such as for spectral analysis, imaging, or both. A shared common clock on both the illumination and receive sides of the system can be included, such as together with one or more of reference detection, per-channel wavelength-dependent modulation, multiple concurrent feedback loops at different levels, orthogonal and circulant codes, phase-scrambling to better utilize ADC dynamic range, oversampling, and other signal processing can be provided.

Electronic architecture for coded light target analysis

System and apparatus for measuring biopotential and implementation thereof. A device for mitigating electromagnetic interference (EMI) thereby increasing signal-to-noise ratio is disclosed. Specifically, the present disclosure relates to an elegant, novel circuit for measuring a plurality of biopotentials in useful in a variety of medical applications. This allows for robust, portable, low-power, higher S/N devices which have historically required a much bigger footprint.

Biopotential measurement system and apparatus

A system for optically reading an encoded pattern on a patterned test strip or other patterned target placed in proximity and moved with respect to an optical code reader. The reader can include an LED light source. A transmit baffle located between the LED light source and the target can define a transmit aperture for passing light originating from the LED light source to a target location on the patterned target. A photodetector arranged to receive light associated with the target location can produce a response signal providing information about the encoded pattern at the target location. A receive baffle located between the photodetector and the target can define a receive aperture for passing light from the target to the photodetector. Signal processing circuitry can be coupled to the photodetector to receive the response signal, and to decode information about the encoded pattern.

Low height proximity-based optical code reader

Device for improving an optical detecting smoke apparatus and implementing thereof. Apparatus and methods for detecting the presence of smoke in a small, long-lasting smoke detector are disclosed. Specifically, the present disclosure shows how to build one or more optimized blocking members in a smoke detector to augment signal to noise ratio. This is performed while keeping the reflections from the housing structure to a very low value while satisfying all the other peripheral needs of fast response to smoke and preventing ambient light. This allows very small measurements of light scattering of the smoke particles to be reliable in a device resistant to the negative effects of dust. In particular, geometrical optical elements, e.g., cap and optical deflection elements, are disclosed.

Optical improvements to compact smoke detectors, systems and apparatus

A device emitting mid-infrared light that comprises a semiconductor substrate of GaSb or closely related material. The device can also comprise epitaxial heterostructures of InAs, GaAs, AISb, and related alloys forming light emitting structures cascaded by tunnel junctions. Further, the device can comprise light emission from the front, epitaxial side of the substrate.

Superlattice photodetector/light emitting diode

System and apparatus for robust, portable gas detection. Specifically, this disclosure describes apparatuses and systems for optical gas detection in a compact package using two optical pathways. There is a need for a very compact, low-power, gas detection system for gases such as CO2, NOx, water vapor, methane, etc. This disclosure provides an ultra-compact and highly stable and efficient optical measurement system based on principals of optical absorption spectroscopy using substantially collinear pathways.

Fully compensated optical gas sensing system and apparatus

Modulation-encoded light, using different spectral bin coded light components, can illuminate a stationary or moving (relative) target object or scene. Response signal processing can use information about the respective different time-varying modulation functions, to decode to recover information about a respective response parameter affected by the target object or scene. Electrical or optical modulation encoding can be used. LED-based spectroscopic analysis of a composition of a target (e.g., SpO2, glucose, etc.) can be performed; such can optionally include decoding of encoded optical modulation functions. Baffles or apertures or optics can be used, such as to constrain light provided by particular LEDs. Coded light illumination can be used with a focal plane array light imager receiving response light for inspecting a moving semiconductor or other target. Encoding can use orthogonal functions, such as an RGB illumination sequence, or a sequence of combinations of spectrally contiguous or non-contiguous colors.

Wearable device such as for glucose measurement

One or more electromagnetic radiation sources, such as a light emitting diode, may emit electromagnetic waves into a volume of space. When an object enters the volume of space, the electromagnetic waves may reflect off the object and strike one or more position sensitive detectors after passing through an imaging optical system such as glass, plastic lens, or a pinhole located at known distances from the sources. Mixed signal electronics may process detected signals at the position sensitive detectors to calculate position information as well as total reflected light intensity, which may be used in medical and other applications. A transparent barrier may separate the sources and detectors from the objects entering the volume of space and reflecting emitted waves. Methods and devices are provided.

Fire detection system

System and apparatus for carbon dioxide detection within an automobile. Specifically, this disclosure describes apparatuses and systems for optical gas detection in a stationary and moving vehicle. There is a need for a such a system to prevent loss of life and contribute to a safer traffic environment. This disclosure provides a highly efficient optical measurement system based on principals of optical absorption spectroscopy. It detects the presence of neglected children and animals and changes the vehicle's interior environment accordingly so as to preclude many potentially dangerous conditions. The present disclosure can also optimize ventilation for a driver. To this end, a driver can maximize alertness and attentiveness.

Gain independent reference channel measurement system and method. A method of making robust, stable measurements, in a variety of different applications is disclosed. More specifically, this disclosure describes systems and methods relating to performing gain independent reference channel measurements by making two phase measurements of a device under test. Mathematically, the measurements are combined and many common mode parameters drop out. The result yields an analysis of a device under test analysis which mitigated errors, predominately arising from environmental variations and changes in circuit behavior stemming from swings in signal input.
