A circuit board storage bag and a storage rack are disclosed. A plurality of printed circuit board storage bags for accommodating a circuit board comprise a front surface portion and a rear surface portion opposed to the obverse and reverse surfaces, respectively, of the circuit board accommodated in the circuit board storage bag and connecting portions for connecting the front surface portion and the rear surface portion. The front surface portion and the rear surface portion bend at the connecting portions to open and close the circuit board storage bag for use in transporting the circuit board. The circuit boards are stored in a storage rack having an inclined mounting surface for mounting the storage bags and a bag stopper at the lower end of the mounting surface. The bags are stored in vertical position on one side at the lower end of the mounting surface.

An object of the invention is to minimize the number of in-process items. To this end, in an inter-process buffer controlling apparatus according to the invention, the size of a buffer to be used for storage of work subjects of predetermined work is increased if a difference or a ratio between a variance of first intervals at which the work subjects are delivered to the buffer and a variance of duration that is taken for the preceding process exceeds a prescribed first threshold value, and the size of the buffer is decreased if a difference or a ratio between an average of second intervals at which work subjects generated by the work are delivered to the following buffer and an average of the first intervals exceeds a prescribed second threshold value.

Disclosed is a manufacturing management system for controlling an SMT line to manufacture printed circuit boards the manufacture of which has been designated. A source data management file created by CAD data for a printed circuit board, an inventory parts management file, a cartridge management file and an SMT line information file which includes manufacturing conditions of the SMT manufacturing equipment and equipment arrangement are registered in a database. An SMT set-up support unit creates a set-up instruction manual, which specifies set-up for manufacturing printed circuit boards on the SMT line, by referring to the various files that have been stored in the database. Further, a mounting data creating unit creates mounting data, which are for allowing the mounting machine to mount parts on printed circuit boards, using part setting position addresses of the mounting machine contained in set-up information and part mounting position coordinates contained in the source data management file.

Disclosed is a pallet arranging system for use in a multiple-item small-lot production setup. The system uses a plurality of pallet groups each comprising a plurality of pallets, each of the pallets including a plurality of cartridges, each of the cartridges containing a large number of parts of the same type. The system creates channel setting data for use by a part assembler fed with parts and printed circuit boards. The parts are assembled by the part assembler onto predetermined positions on the printed circuit boards in accordance with the channel setting data that designate which cartridge is to be assigned to which of the channels constituting the pallet groups.
