A magnetic tape cassette includes a slider fitted slidably along a bottom of a cassette case, as well as resiliently locking pieces formed in the bottom of the cassette case along the bottom in a cantilevered fashion and each having a head at a free end thereof for fitting in an engaging hole in the slider so as to retain the slider. Each of the resiliently locking pieces has a compression coil spring provided between the head 12a and an upper half 11a of the cassette case to maintain a resilient force for the head in a thickness-wise direction of the cassette. When the head is pushed into the cassette case by more than a predetermined amount, coils of the compression coil spring are set in a state of close contact with each other in a compressing direction of the spring so as to support the head from an inward direction of the cassette and positionally restrict the displacement of the resiliently locking piece in the inward direction of the cassette.

Magnetic tape cassette having improved slider lock

A sliding shutter for a magnetic disk cartridge is disclosed which includes an engaging member positioned to contact a torsion spring in the cartridge during the process of fitting the shutter onto the cartridge. The engaging member acts to guide the spring to the proper position for engagement and has an angled face to facilitate the movement of the spring into engagement in a notch in the engaging member. This also reduces the rate of product rejects caused by springs which are mis-positioned during the assembly process.

Shutter for magnetic disk cartridge

A magnetic recording disk cartridge comprises a magnetic recording disk accomodated for rotation in a casing. The magnetic recording disk is provided with a center core having a central opening into which a spindle of a magnetic recording/reproducing system is inserted to be drivingly engaged therewith. The center core comprises a core block provided with the central opening and a pair of slits formed in the wall portion of the core block defining the central opening and spaced from each other by a predetermined distance; and a plate spring which extends across the central opening and the opposite end portions of which are fitted into the slits and held therein so that the plate spring can be resiliently deformed in a direction radial to the magnetic recording disk. When the spindle is fitted into the central opening, the plate spring is pushed by the spindle to be resiliently deformed, and the outer pheripheral surface of the spindle is urged radially inwardly by the resiliency of the plate spring so that the rotational axis of the spindle coincides with the central axis of the magnetic recording disk.

A magnetic disk cartridge containing a floppy magnetic disk is provided with center core which has a groove where the vertical part of the core meets the flange upon which the disk is fastened by a double-sided adhesive ring. This groove can accommodate a portion of the adhesive ring which is positioned out of true. This ensures that such misalignment does not cause deformation of the disk and the deterioration in read/write performance with the disk. The groove also serves to prevent flange flashing from scraping fragments off the inside of the cartridge wall, and the possible harm such fragments cause if they stick to the disk.
