A telecommunication apparatus includes a translation unit for translating a received document from a source language to a target language and discriminates the source language based upon a protocol message transmitted from a remote terminal for setting up a connection.

Telecommunication apparatus having a capability of translation

A facsimile machine for use as a terminal in a communication network includes a scanner for optically reading an original document to produce graphic information and a keyboard for producing character information and control information as operated by an operator. The graphic and character information thus inputted is then combined to form mixture information which is transmitted to a receiver terminal as long as the receiver terminal is capable of receiving such mixture information. If the receiver terminal has been found to be not equipped to receive such mixture information, the present facsimile machine automatically converts the character portion of the mixture information to graphic information thereby making all the information to be graphic prior to transmission to the receiver terminal.

Communication terminal apparatus with data format conversion capability

A communicating method for a data communications apparatus capable of transmitting data in a full-duplex mode over a two-wire circuit. Prior to the transmission of data, a transmit and a receive terminals exchange training signals to test circuit conditions in order to see if full-duplex communication therebetween is allowable. Depending upon the result of the test, either a full-duplex mode or a semiduplex mode is set up for data communication.

Data communicating method with capability of full-duplex communication

A method for transmitting a signal with a signal transmission rate selected from a plurality of signal transmission rates applicable to a facsimile transmission system. The distortion amount of a distortion measurement signal transmitted from a transmitting equipment is measured at a receiving equipment on the basis of the variation in the received distortion measurement signal. The distortion allowance range to which the measured distortion amount belongs is decided on the basis of the result of the measurement of the distortion amount. The transmission of the working signals is carried out with a transmission rate corresponding to the result of the decision of the distortion allowance range.

Method of signal transmission with selected signal transmission rate

A data transmission control system for allowing remote transceiver stations to transmit data via a telephone line or like analog transmission line through modems. When transmit and receive stations have been interconnected by a call, a training sequence for the modem is executed and, also, a test signal transmission sequence is effected to set up a data transmission rate before delivery of information. When the receive station has received test training data inclusive of a plurality of transmission rates from the transmit station, the function of the modem at the receive station is checked with respect to each of the transmission rates on a signal space diagram, thereby determining whether the receive station is capable of normally receiving data at the transmission rate. Training on the transmission rates which a modem can use is executed satisfying a predetermined protocol and without increasing the protocol time.
