A water-containing solid fuel drying apparatus that can efficiently dry with low energy consumption by effectively utilizing sensible heat and latent heat of a heating medium for drying, etc. is provided. A drying apparatus () that dries water-containing solid fuel includes a dryer () that injects scavenging gas into the interior of a drying vessel () in which a heat transfer pipe () is disposed; a dust collector () that removes microparticles from microparticle-containing mixed gaseous fluid that has flowed out of the drying vessel (); a compressor () that compresses vapor-containing mixed gaseous fluid; a vapor heat exchanger () that preheats low-pressure mixed gaseous fluid with high-pressure mixed gaseous fluid compressed at the compressor (); and a gas-liquid separator (), in which the high-pressure mixed gaseous fluid is employed as drying gas that radiates heat by passing through the heat transfer pipe (), that performs gas-liquid separation of water-containing scavenging gas that has flowed out of the heat transfer pipe () while containing condensed water of vapor generated due to heat radiation, wherein the water-containing solid fuel is dried by heating the water-containing solid fuel in the drying vessel () utilizing latent heat and sensible heat of the mixed gaseous fluid.

The present invention provides a method for producing methanol making use of biomass material, which method is capable of making effective use of produced carbon monoxide without deteriorating efficiency of methanol production. The invention also provides an apparatus for producing methanol. In the method for producing methanol making use of biomass material including gasifying biomass to produce a gas and producing methanol from the produced gas, water is electrolyzed by means of a water electrolysis unit operated by electric power generated from a sunlight power-generation unit or a wind power-generation unit, and hydrogen gas generated through electrolysis of the water is supplied to the raw material gas such that the amount of hydrogen is adjusted to at least twice the amount of carbon monoxide contained in the produced gas, to thereby produce methanol in a methanol synthesis column.

A dust collecting apparatus and method for dedusting a Ca-containing gas using a ceramics filter is provided, in which a filter differential pressure elevation rate is suppressed. A desulferizing agent,and a mineral,containing MgO are supplied via a hopper,a valve,and a feeder,into a pressurized fluidized-bed combustion furnace,together with coal,and air,. A combustion gas,is dedusted by a cyclone,to become a combustion gas,, the combustion gas,enters a filter container,having a ceramics filter,and is further dedusted. A combustion gas,which is dedusted is supplied into a gas turbine,to generate power, and combustion gas,heats a waste heat recovery boiler,which in turn drives a steam turbine,. The mineral,containing MgO is added in the combustion gas,which flows in the ceramics filter,. Thereby MgO is added to the combustion gas so that the filter differential pressure elevation rate can be suppressed. The more MgO that is supplied, the greater the effect becomes, and an operation stop due to the differential pressure elevation is eliminated.

Dust collecting method

A heavy oil emulsified fuel combustion furnace is provided which prevents lowering of combustion efficiency due to water content in the fuel as well as prevents elevation of sulfuric acid dew point due to water content in the flue gas of the combustion furnace. In the apparatus a heavy oil emulsified fuel (102) is heated by a heater (110) using a heat pipe etc. and then is separated by a water vaporizer (120) into heavy oil (122) and vapor (121) consisting of steam and a light oil combustible gas. The heavy oil (122) is supplied to a burner port of the combustion furnace, such as a boiler etc. The vapor (121) is condensed by a condenser (140) to produce liquid (141) comprising a mixture of water and light oil. The liquid (141) is separated by an oily water separator (150) into oil (151) and water (152). The oil (151) is used as a fuel for an igniting torch of the combustion furnace 10 and the water (152) is used partially as cooling water (41) for an SO.sub.X removal apparatus (40) and partially as an atomizing steam 9 or a soot blowing steam 8 in the boiler, etc.

A coal burner combined power plant includes a gas turbine for burning coal in a furnace under the pressure and uses produced gas. A steam turbine is combined with an exhaust gas boiler using exhaust gas from the gas turbine. Another fuel is burned at an inlet of the gas turbine for allowing the temperature at the inlet of the gas turbine to rise. A fuel reformer reforms the other fuel and is located within the furnace.

Denitration apparatus for a caol-fired boiler

Provided herein is a process for producing methanol which was developed to reduce the emission of carbon dioxide which is responsible for global warming. The process involves the steps of generating steam by the use of nuclear heat of a high-temperature gas-cooled nuclear reactor, decomposing the steam into hydrogen by means of a steam electrolyzer, and synthesizing methanol from this hydrogen and carbon dioxide obtained from a carbon dioxide source. The process also involves the steps of converting carbon dioxide and hydrogen into carbon monoxide and steam by means of a reverse shift reactor, forming hydrogen and carbon monoxide of almost the same composition as the conventional one, and reacting said hydrogen and carbon monoxide into methanol by means of a methanol synthesis column. The process permits the use of an existing methanol production facility. The process may be modified such that the gasified gas composed of carbon monoxide, carbon dioxide, and hydrogen is mixed with hydrogen gas generated by the steam electrolyzer, and the resulting mixed gas is converted into methanol. Also, a power generating plant is provided in which oxygen enriched air, generated by the steam electrolyzer using nuclear heat of the high-temperature gas-cooled nuclear reactor, is used as combustion air.

A method for denitrating an exhaust gas is disclosed which comprises the steps of injecting ammonia from an ammonia injection device into a high-temperature exhaust gas containing nitrogen oxides in a temperature range of 480.degree. C. or more, and then bringing a mixture of ammonia and the high-temperature exhaust gas into contact with a denitration catalyst to reduce the mixture, said method being characterized in that ammonia is injected through the ammonia injection device in which at least an inner surface is subjected to an aluminizing treatment, whereby ammonia is prevented from decomposing; and an apparatus for denitrating an exhaust gas is also disclosed.

Prevention of ammonia decomposition

A process for producing methanol reduces the emission of carbon dioxide which is responsible for global warming. The process involves the steps of generating steam by the use of nuclear heat of a high-temperature gas-cooled nuclear reactor, decomposing the steam into hydrogen with a steam electrolyzer, and synthesizing methanol from this hydrogen and carbon dioxide obtained from a carbon dioxide source. Also, a power generating plant is provided in which oxygen-enriched air, generated by the steam electrolyzer using nuclear heat of the high-temperature gas-cooled nuclear reactor, is used as combustion air.

A pressure-swing adsorption type gas separator system includes two adsorption vessels and a switching valve for placing each of the adsorption vessels alternately in communication with a raw gas source and an exhaust gas line so that a pressurized adsorption process and a reduced-pressure desorption process are sequentially carried out in each of the vessels. The switching valve is a four-port rotary valve having four ports connected to the adsorption vessels, a raw gas source and an exhaust gas line and is driven by a rotary drive. Preferably, the rotary drive is a drive motor for a pressurizing pump provided in a raw gas line, and the four-port rotary valve is connected to the drive motor via a speed reducer.

Gas separator system

A temperature monitoring unit has a high degree of sensitivity and reliability even when monitoring the temperature of a relatively large rotary heating element. The temperature monitoring unit includes a mirror which is provided in the vicinity of the rotary heating element and is oriented to reflect infrared rays from the heating element in the radial direction thereof, the mirror being reciprocated linearly in the radial direction, a condenser lens provided radially outwardly of the heating element for converging the infrared rays reflected by the mirror, an infrared sensor on which the converged rays impinge, a plate provided between the mirror and the lens and which has a slit therein that is elongate in a direction approximately perpendicular to the surface of the heating element, and an image processor receiving the output of the infrared sensor. The sensitivity is high because infrared rays from around the thermal point of the heating element are blocked by the plate. Moreover, because the visual field is elongate in the radial direction of the heating element, the mirror can quickly scan the entirety of the heating element.

Power generation with a gas turbine using a gasified fuel of inferior quality is accomplished with high efficiency by a method which comprises bleeding part of highly compressed air emanating from an air compressor driven by a gas turbine and introducing the part of highly compressed air into an oxygen adsorbing tower containing an oxygen adsorbent thereby causing the oxygen from the highly compressed air to be adsorbed by the oxygen adsorbent and, at the same time, allowing the nitrogen gas from the highly compressed air to flow in a highly compressed state through the oxygen adsorbing tower, desorbing the adsorbed oxygen from the oxygen adsorbent under a vacuum, compressing the oxygen gas resulting from the desorption and gasifying a fuel of inferior quality with the compressed oxygen gas as an oxidizing agent, effecting combustion of the gasified fuel of inferior quality with the remainder of the compressed air produced by air compressor, mixing the gas arising from the combustion with the highly compressed nitrogen gas having flowed through the adsorbing tower, and introducing the resultant mixture into the gas turbine thereby driving the gas turbine and inducing power generation.
