A lubricating oil composition comprising a lubricating base oil, and a mixture and/or a reaction product of (A) 0.01-0.5% by mass of at least one compound selected from among acid phosphates represented by formula (1) or formula (2), and (B) 0.01-2% by mass of an alkylamine represented by formula (3), based on the total weight of the composition, wherein the acid value due to component (A) is 0.1-1.0 mgKOH/g. The invention provides a low-friction sliding mechanism, a low-friction agent composition, a friction reduction method, a manual transmission and a final reduction gear unit that can exert very excellent low friction characteristics to sliding surfaces present under various applications, and, in particular, that have more excellent low friction characteristics than that of a combination of an existing steel material and an organic Mo compound. The low-friction sliding mechanism has an oxygen-containing organic compound or an aliphatic amine compound interposed between sliding surfaces that a DLC coated sliding member and a sliding member form. The low-friction agent composition contains an oxygen-containing organic compound or an aliphatic amine compound. The friction reduction method includes supplying the low-friction agent composition between sliding surfaces that a DLC coated sliding member and a sliding member form. The manual transmission includes, as at least one of sliding members, a DLC coated sliding section. The final reduction gear unit includes, as at least one of sliding members, a DLC coated sliding section.

Low-friction sliding mechanism, low-friction agent composition and method of friction reduction

A low-friction sliding mechanism includes first and second sliding members having respective sliding surfaces slidable relative to each other and a lubricant applied to the sliding surfaces of the first and second sliding members. At least the sliding surface of the first sliding member is made of a diamond-like carbon material, and at least the sliding surface of the second sliding member is made of either an aluminum-based alloy material, a magnesium-based alloy material or a diamond-like carbon material. The lubricant contains a base oil and at least one of an ashless fatty-ester friction modifier and an ashless aliphatic-amine friction modifier.

Low-friction sliding mechanism

The lubricating base oil of the invention satisfies at least one of conditions (a) or (b) below. The lubricating oil composition for an internal combustion engine according to the invention comprises the lubricating base oil of the invention, an ashless antioxidant containing essentially no sulfur as a constituent element, and at least one compound selected from among ashless antioxidants containing sulfur as a constituent element and organic molybdenum compounds. Also, a lubricating oil composition for a power train device according to the invention comprises the lubricating base oil of the invention, a poly(meth)acrylate-based viscosity index improver and a phosphorus-containing compound.

The present invention relates to a lubricant for lubricating relatively movable, facing contact surfaces at least one of which is coated with DLC, a method of lubricating DLC contact surfaces with this lubricant, and a system having DLC contact surfaces. The present invention relates to a system wherein a pair of relatively movable, facing DLC contact surfaces at least one of which is coated with a DLC film, are further lowered in friction, and the low friction property is stably maintained. The present invention also relates to a lubricant for the system, and a lubricating method. The lubricant for the system having the DLC contact surfaces contains lubricant base oil (A) mainly composed of base oil (X), and sulfur-containing molybdenum complex (B). The base oil (X) is at least one of hydrocracked mineral oils, wax-isomerized mineral oils, and poly-&#x3b1;-olefin base oils, and has a kinematic viscosity of 2 to 20 mm/s at 100&#xb0; C., a total aromatic content of not higher than 5 mass %, and a total sulfur content of not higher than 0.005 mass %.
