To protect a battery pack supported in a rear end part of a vehicle body at the time of a rear end crash, the vehicle body rear structure comprises: a pair of left and right rear side frames () extending in a fore and aft direction in a laterally spaced apart relationship; a rear floor panel () attached to the rear side frames () and defining a battery receiving space () for receiving a battery pack therein; and a load transmitting member () having a front end (A) fixedly secured to a structural member () of the vehicle body and extending to a rear end (B) thereof located behind the battery receiving space.

Vehicle body rear structure

A vehicle body rear structure includes: a pair of left and right rear side frames extending in a vehicle front-rear direction; a vehicle-mounted component provided between the pair of rear side frames; and a pair of support members for supporting the vehicle-mounted component. The support members respectively extend along the rear side frames and in the vehicle front-rear direction, and are respectively arranged side-by-side with the rear side frames in a vehicle width direction and inwardly of the rear side frames in the vehicle width direction.

A vehicle body side structure includes a house reinforcing member mounted on a front upper portion of an inner wheel house, the house reinforcing member having a front connecting portion connected to a flange of the inner wheel house, a panel portion extending from the front connecting portion in an inclined manner, and a rear connecting portion connected to a rear bulkhead. A rear end of a door beam is provided outwardly of a striker in a vehicle width direction, and the rear end of the door beam, the striker, and the front connecting portion are provided in an overlapping manner from outside to inside in the vehicle width direction.

Vehicle body side structure

A skeleton member structure having a tubular structural member () filled with granular materials for absorbing impact energy. The granular materials includes a granular material having a hollow portion () or a porous granular material. When the skeleton member receives an impact, the granular materials are deformed or collapsed, and impact energy is stably absorbed. Since the granular materials are hollow or porous, the weight of the skeleton member filled with the granular materials is reduced.

Skeleton member structure

A method for forming a solidified granular material (), in which granules () are charged into a tubular frame member () and then heated together with the frame member, to solidify the granules. The granules include a mixture of first granules () and second granules (), each of which second granules has a thermoplastic resin shell enclosing a solid or liquid which expands by vaporization. The mixture is charged into the frame member and heated together with the frame member. The heating causes the second granules () to expand and the surfaces of the second granules to melt for bonding with the first granules (). The mixture, upon cooling, becomes a solidified granular material (), filling the frame member with no space therebetween.

Method for forming solidified granular materials

A reinforcement member () of an automotive side sill includes a V-shaped cross-sectional portion () formed by bending the reinforcement member so as to follow a lower surface () of an upper portion () of an outer panel (), joining an upper attaching portion () functioning as a resulting bent portion to the upper portion () of the outer panel () and bending a distal end of the upper attaching portion () downwardly.

Automotive side sill reinforcement structure

In a body of a motor vehicle a cross member, provided on a floor panel of the body, elongating widthwise of the motor vehicle is connected to each side sill in a position which is offset from each center pillar. The side sill is provided therein with a reinforcing beam of closed cross section. The reinforcing beam extends in a range at least between a connecting portion of the cross member and a crossing portion of the center pillar and crosses the cross section of the side sill. The reinforcing beam is welded to the side sill over the entire length of the reinforcing beam.

Side sill structure for body of motor vehicle

A motor vehicle door includes a hollow door body having a pair of vertically spaced hinges mounted on an end thereof. The hinges are mounted on a motor vehicle body for openably closing the door body over a door opening in the motor vehicle body. The motor vehicle door also has a lock mounted on an opposite end of the door body, and a substantially triangular truss fixedly housed in the door body and connected between the hinges and the lock. The substantially triangular truss comprises a vertical beam connected to the hinges and a pair of vertically spaced upper and lower cross beams joined at respective ends thereof to the vertical beam near the hinges, respectively, and joined at respective opposite ends thereof to the lock.
