A composite magnetic body includes metal magnetic powder formed of metal magnetic particles and an insulator impregnated into at least a part of voids among the metal magnetic particles. On a cumulative curve of widths of the voids among the metal magnetic particles, a void width at which a cumulative distribution is 50% is equal to or smaller than 3 &#x3bc;m, and a void width at which the cumulative distribution is 95% is equal to or greater than 4 &#x3bc;m.

Composite magnetic body and method for manufacturing same

A composite magnetic material contains metal magnetic powder composed of metal magnetic particles, and mica interposed between the metal magnetic particles as an inorganic insulator. The mica has an Fe content of 15 wt % or less per 100 wt % of the mica in terms of FeO. To manufacture the composite magnetic material, first, mixed powder is prepared by mixing the metal magnetic powder and the mica so as to be dispersed into each other. Next, a compact is formed by pressure-molding the mixed powder. Finally, the compact is heat-treated.

A coil component has a wound coil, a coil magnetic body, and an exterior body. The coil magnetic body has a magnetic core inside winding of the wound coil. The exterior body covers a surface of the coil magnetic body. This coil component has a mount surface, and a thermal conductivity in a direction parallel to a surface of the exterior body is greater than a thermal conductivity in a direction perpendicular to the surface of the exterior body.
