A viscosity modifier for lubricating oil, including an (C) ethylene-α-olefin copolymer having an ethylene molar content rate within a range of 30 to 70 mol %, a rotational viscosity at 150° C. of 300 to 8,000 mPa·s, a Hasen chromaticity of 30 or lower, a molecular weight distribution (Mw/Mn) of 2.5 or less, and a B value of 1.1 or more; a lubricating oil composition with a lubricating oil base oil including a (A) mineral oil having a kinematic viscosity at 40° C. of 10 to 100 mm/s, a viscosity index of 90 or more, and a pour point of 0° C. or lower and/or a (B) synthetic oil having a kinematic viscosity at 40° C. of 4 to 100 mm/s, a viscosity index of 90 or more and a pour point of −30° C. or lower; and the viscosity modifier having has a kinematic viscosity at 40° C. of 28 to 170 mm/s.

Viscosity modifier for lubricating oil and lubricating oil composition for hydraulic fluid

A masterbatch of a liquid additive is provided, the resin composition for the masterbatch comprising (a) a block copolymer or a hydrogenated product thereof, the block copolymer containing a polymer block having a vinyl aromatic compound as a main component and a polymer block having a conjugated diene compound as a main component, and 40 to 100 parts by mass of a polyolefinic resin and 100 to 150 parts by mass of an ethylene&#xb7;&#x3b1;-olefin copolymer with respect to 100 parts by mass of the (a) component, wherein the kinematic viscosity at 100&#xb0; C. is 10 to 5,000 mm/s; the ethylene molar content is in the range of 30 to 85 mol %; and the molecular weight distribution (Mw/Mn) for the molecular weight measured by gel permeation chromatography (GPC) with reference to polystyrene is not more than 2.5.

Resin composition for masterbatch

A lubricant oil composition for automotive gears includes a lubricant base oil including a mineral oil having a kinematic viscosity at 100&#xb0; C. of 2.0 to 6.5 mm/s, a viscosity index of not less than 105 and a pour point of not more than &#x2212;10&#xb0; C., and/or a synthetic oil having a kinematic viscosity at 100&#xb0; C. of 1.0 to 6.5 mm/s, a viscosity index of not less than 120 and a pour point of not more than &#x2212;30&#xb0; C.; and an ethylene/&#x3b1;-olefin copolymer having an ethylene content of 55 to 85 mol %, a kinematic viscosity at 100&#xb0; C. of 10 to 200 mm/s, a molecular weight distribution of not more than 2.2, and a melting point in the range of &#x2212;30&#xb0; C. to &#x2212;60&#xb0; C. The lubricant oil composition for automotive gears has a kinematic viscosity at 100&#xb0; C. of 4.0 to 9.0 mm/s.

Lubricant oil compositions for automotive gears

A lubricant composition includes a lubricant base oil (A) having a kinematic viscosity at 100&#xb0; C. of 1 to 10 mm/s, and an ethylene/&#x3b1;-olefin copolymer (B) in which (B1) the peak top molecular weight is 3,000 to 10,000, (B2) the copolymer shows no melting peak, (B3) the value B is not less than 1.1 and (B4) the kinematic viscosity at 100&#xb0; C. is 140 to 500 mm/s. The lubricant composition has a kinematic viscosity at 100&#xb0; C. of not more than 20 mm/s, a peak top of molecular weight in the range of 3,000 to 10,000, and a weight fraction of components having a molecular weight not less than 20,000 of 1 to 10% relative to all components having a molecular weight not less than the molecular weight that gives the peak top.

Lubricant compositions

A lubricating oil composition comprising (A) an ethylene/&#x3b1;-olefin copolymer satisfying all of the following requirements (A-1) to (A-3): (A-1) an ethylene structural unit content of 30 to 70% by mol, (A-2) a kinematic viscosity at 100&#xb0; C. of 20 to 3000 mm/s, and (A-3) Mw/Mn as measured by GPC of 1 to 2.5, (F) a sulfur-containing compound in which at least one hydrocarbon group adjacent to sulfur is a secondary or tertiary hydrocarbon group, and as an optional component, (G) an &#x3b1;-olefin polymer having 3 to 6 carbon atoms, and having a kinematic viscosity at 40&#xb0; C. of 450 to 51,000 mm/s, a sulfur content of 0.1 to 5 parts by weight, and a component (G) content of 0 to 15 parts by weight. The lubricating oil composition is suitable particularly for gear oil and the like.

Lubricating oil composition

The present invention provides a polyolefin resin composition which is excellent in mechanical properties and dimensional stability and is particularly excellent in heat resistance, a film which is excellent in mechanical properties, dimensional stability and heat resistance because it is obtained from the polyolefin resin composition and which is particularly excellent in meltdown properties, a macroporous membrane which is excellent in permeability and shutdown properties in addition to the above properties, and uses thereof. The polyolefin resin composition of the present invention (C) comprises 85 to 50% by mass of ultrahigh-molecular weight polyethylene (A) having a specific intrinsic viscosity and 15 to 50% by mass of a polymer (B) containing a repeating unit derived from 4-methyl-1-pentene, in 100% by mass of the polyolefin resin composition (C).
