A radiation detection apparatus includes a sensor array in which a plurality of pixels having photoelectric conversion elements is arranged on a substrate, a phosphor layer made of a plurality of columnar crystals provided on the sensor array, a phosphor protective layer provided on the phosphor layer to protect the phosphor layer, and a reflection layer provided on the phosphor protective layer to reflect light from the phosphor layer. The phosphor protective layer is a cross-linked body made of a metallic alkoxide and oxygen cross-linking at least some of metallic atoms included in the metallic alkoxide, and the reflection layer is made of a resin and a metallic compound dispersed in the resin.

A radiation imaging panel is provided. The panel comprises a substrate on which a plurality of pixels each including a photoelectric conversion element are arranged, a scintillator arranged over the substrate, and a protective layer arranged so as to cover the scintillator. The scintillator includes a plurality of columnar crystals containing an alkali metal halide. The protective layer includes a resin layer containing a resin to which particles of a metal oxide are added. A thickness of the resin layer from an apex of each of the plurality of columnar crystals to an upper surface of the resin layer is not less than 10 &#x3bc;m and less than 30 &#x3bc;m, and a concentration of the particles in the resin layer is not less than 0.15 vol % and less than 7.5 vol %.

The radiographic imaging apparatus includes: the photoelectric conversion element; and a wavelength converting layer which has a bottom surface located above the photoelectric conversion element and a top surface for receiving an incident radiation ray, and which contains a scintillator layer. The wavelength converting layer has light transmitting properties in at least a region positioned to be above the photoelectric conversion element, and contains the scintillator layer at a density that is lower on the bottom surface side than on the top surface side in the thickness direction of the region.
