A cassette for X-ray imaging includes a cassette body storing an X-ray detector. Three reflective optical sensors are arranged on an upper end side of a rear surface, which is opposite to a detection surface, of the cassette body. An X-ray detection device for supine-posture imaging has a table. The X-ray detection device includes a tray to which the cassette is loaded. Markers for identifying a loading orientation of the cassette are attached to the tray. The reflective optical sensors read out the markers and detect the loading orientation of the cassette.

An X-ray imaging device includes an X-ray generator, a filter plate detachably attached to an X-ray outlet of the X-ray generator, and a FPD. The filter plate has a plurality of circular markers of different sizes. The smallest marker is disposed at the center of the filter plate. The other markers are disposed on lines radiating from the smallest marker in increasing order of size and at regular intervals. An X-ray radiation beam passes through the markers and patient's body, and is incident upon an imaging surface of the FPD. The FPD produces a preliminary radiographic image from the incident X-ray radiation beam. A deviation vector detector chooses adjoining two marker images of different sizes from the preliminary radiographic image, and identifies to which markers the marker images correspond based on a size ratio. Then, the deviation vector detector determines the center of an X-ray field.

A cassette accommodating device accommodates casings of a plurality of sizes. Each casing is detachably inserted with a cassette installed with a rechargeable battery and a radiation detection unit that is supplied with power from the rechargeable battery and generates a radiographic image according to an amount of received radiation. Each casing is provided on at least one of two connected side faces with a power receiving unit that receives power for charging the rechargeable battery. The device comprises a groove portion, formed with a sloping face that faces one of the two side faces of an accommodated casing, and a bottom face that faces the other of the two side faces of the accommodated casing. The bottom face is inclined such that the casing moves toward the sloping face when the casing is accommodated. A power supply unit is formed to the sloping face and/or the bottom face so as to supply power to the power receiving unit when the casing has been accommodated.

There is provided a digital cassette charging apparatus including: a charging unit loadable with plural types of digital cassette each comprising a rechargeable battery, the charging unit capable of charging the rechargeable batteries of the plural types of digital cassette at the same time; an identification unit for identifying each of the respective types of the plural digital cassettes that have been loaded in the charging unit; a storage unit stored with a charging profile for each of the digital cassettes, the charging profile representing the charging characteristics of the rechargeable battery; and a control unit for reading out from the storage unit the respective charging profile corresponding to the type of digital cassette identified by the identification unit from the plural types of digital cassette, and for controlling the charging unit based on the respective read-out charging profile.

Even when there are plural radiographic image detection devices and external devices between which communication takes place, a link with a designated external device may be established easily and reliably. An electronic cassette used in imaging or an electronic cassette that stores generated image data in an image memory is attached to a handle that stores a console ID, which indicates a console that is to be specified as a target of communication. When the attachment of the electronic cassette with the handle is detected by an attachment detection section, a connection request signal is sent to the console indicated by the console ID stored in the handle. When a connection permission signal is received from the console, a link between the electronic cassette and the console is established.
