Method and apparatus for separating a doubled yarn into single yarns in order to piece a doubled yarn. The doubled yarn is separated by separating members such as a clamper opened and closed in a manner of scissors, push- and separate member having an extreme end sharpened, and a plurality of yarn separating rollers having tapered portions being placed in contact with each other. Feelers or sensors may be located to provide a yarn separation signal.

An air spinning method and apparatus for spinning a yarn. The apparatus includes a pipe with a fiber bundle passageway, air jet nozzles for applying whirling air currents near the inlet of the pipe, and a rotating body including air discharge passages and revolving around the pipe. In the method, the fiber bundle is passed through the pipe's fiber bundle passageway. Rear ends of some fibers are separated from the fiber bundle by air currents jetted from the nozzles so as to be rotated together with air currents by the rotating body after drawn into the discharge passage. Fibers lying in the central portion of the fiber bundle, pass through the pipe's fiber bundle passageway without being influenced by the air currents jetted from the nozzles. Fibers lying on the peripheral portion of the fiber bundle, however, are subjected to such air currents so that ends of some such fibers are separated from the fiber bundle, drawn into the air discharge passageway, whirled by the rotating body, and wound around other fibers of the fiber bundle. The spun yarn thus formed includes core fibers in substantially the same form and relationship to each other as in the fiber bundle, and winding fibers spirally wound around the core fibers along the length of the core fibers. The winding fibers are of uniform frequency and angle along the length of the core fibers.

Method of and apparatus for spinning yarn

A draft roller in a spinning machine in which its portion in contact with a fiber bundle, i.e. the draft portion, is made relatively large in diameter, and the roller portion adjacent to the draft portion are tapered gradually away from the draft portion so that fibers wound around the draft portion are moved therefrom to the tapered portions and can be removed easily.

A coupling device comprising two bosses for respectively inserting therein each end of two shafts to be connected, a coupling member which is made of a resilient material and covers the bosses and a casing to fit the coupling member therein. The bosses have a plurality of toothed portions formed on outer periphery thereof and the coupling member has toothed portions identical in number and shape to the toothed portions of the bosses at inner periphery thereof so that the two bosses and coupling member are engaged with each other.

An apron for a draft apparatus being suitable for use with a pneumatic high speed spinning frame. The apron includes a front side rubber layer, a reverse side rubber layer adhered to the front side rubber layer and core cords interposed between the two rubber layers. The peripheral borders of the apron have such a construction that one of said rubber layers is retracted from the other of the rubber layers.

A draft device for a spinning machine comprises a plurality of pairs of a top roller and a bottom roller, a draft cradle for supporting shafts of the top roller and a belt tenser. Top roller shafts are supported by a top roller support which is rotatably supported on a frame at one end thereof and side plates for fitting the top roller shafts therein, and spring members for pressing the roller shafts are disposed within the top roller support. A tenser of the belt tenser has an engaging portion wherein the top roller shaft is loosely fitted.

A device for the uniform retrieval of yarn ends in an air spinning device. A suction force gradient is created between the air jet nozzle and the waste suction pipe. Gravitational force and the suction gradient cause broken yarn ends to drop from the air jet nozzle orifice toward the waste suction pipe. When yarn piecing is desired, a piecing suction pipe retrieves the yarn end from the nozzle orifice.

An air nozzle for spinning yarn is positioned adjacent a pair of drafting rollers. The space between a cap covering the nozzle and the nozzle itself forms a tank for the air to be jetted through the nozzle. A tapered throttle located behind the nozzle reduces resistance to air exiting from the jetting ports.

A yarn slacking apparatus for slacking and retaining a fed yarn therein during the knotting operation in a winder. The sucking action is caused in the slack tube only when the knotting operation is carried out, while the sucking action of the slack tube is stopped by means of providing a shutter means for an opening of the slack tube, when the knotting operation is not conducted.

An air current rectifier plate surrounds the foremost air jet nozzle in an air spinning device. The rectifier plate produces a non-turbulent flow of air toward the waste suction pipe and prevents debris from back-flowing into the air jet nozzle.
