A dielectric electronic component such as a dielectric duplexer includes a dielectric ceramic block, a plurality of resonators arranged in a row in the dielectric ceramic block, and at least one terminal pad formed on a side surface of the dielectric ceramic block and coupled to a selected one of the resonators. An attenuation adjustment electrode is provided on an end face of the dielectric ceramic block in the vicinity of the selected resonator. The attenuation adjustment electrode has a base conductor portion extending from the terminal pad and having an edge that faces the end of the selected resonator, and first and second adjustment conductor portions projecting from the base conductor portion and directly oppositely along a general path or direction defined by the arrangement of the resonators. The first and second adjustment conductor portions are selectively ground away in order to adjust the frequency of the attenuation peak of the frequency characteristics of the component.

An electronic part such as a dielectric duplexer or filter is provided which comprises a dielectric ceramic block having a pair of opposite first and second side surfaces and an end surface meeting the first and second side surfaces nearly at right angles, an extension-electrode forming notch formed in the end surface so as to have an open end at the first side surface, a dummy electrode-forming notch formed in the end surface so as to have an open end at the second surface, the extension electrode-forming notch and the dummy electrode-forming notch corresponding in shape and position when observed in the direction in which the first and second side surfaces are opposed, an extension electrode formed in the extension electrode-forming notch, and a dummy electrode formed in the dummy electrode-forming notch. A method of forming an electrode of such an electronic part is also provided.

The extent of input/output coupling of a dielectric electronic component such as a dielectric filter or a dielectric duplexer can be adjusted by a novel method. The dielectric filter comprises excitation holes whose short-circuiting ends are provided with respective coupling-adjusting countersinks.

Dielectric electronic component and method of adjusting input/output coupling thereof

A dielectric duplexer device is provided with an output terminal pad formed on a side surface of a dielectric block in the vicinity of an open end associated with a plurality of resonators of a reception section in such a manner as to face the resonators. An extension electrode extends from the output terminal pad onto an end face of the dielectric block where the open end is present, to thereby be capacitively coupled with the resonators. The coupling capacitance can be readily corrected by adjusting the position of the end of the extension electrode. In one specific form, when the dielectric duplexer is mounted, the extension electrode is exposed and is also joined to a predetermined conductive path by means of solder. Accordingly, the output terminal pad is soldered at the bottom and side surfaces thereof to thereby be fillet-soldered, thereby providing visibility of electrical and mechanical connections thereof to the predetermined conductive path and thus enhancing the reliability of the mounted state.

Dielectric duplexer

A dielectric filter includes a dielectric ceramic block having the shape of a rectangular prism and including three or more through-holes formed therein in parallel. An inner conductor covers the inner surface of each of the through-holes to form the corresponding resonator. An outer conductor covers a predetermined outer surface of the dielectric ceramic block, excluding the open end surface. Input/output pads are formed on one side surface of the dielectric ceramic block such that the pads face the two end resonators. Each of the through-holes of the end resonators is provided with a counterbore. An auxiliary conductor is disposed on the open end surface to face at least one intermediate resonator between end resonators. The auxiliary conductor at least partially surrounds the intermediate resonator with an insulating gap formed therebetween, and is connected to the outer conductor on the side surface on which the input/output pads are provided. The auxiliary conductor is formed by a conductive material disposed in a concave portion formed in the open end surface and having a pattern corresponding to the pattern of the auxiliary conductor.

A dielectric filter comprising a plurality of juxtaposed resonators provided within a dielectric ceramic block, an outer conductor layer provided on outer surface portions of the block with exception of an open-circuit end surface, and input/output pads provided on one lateral side surface of the block at respective positions close to the open-circuit end surface and opposite to the associated resonators, wherein a strip conductor member is provided transversely between the adjacent through holes on the first end surface of the block so that one end of the strip conductor member is connected to the outer conductor layer on one of a first and second lateral side surfaces of the block, and other end is separated from the other lateral side surface to form an open circuit end, whereby defining a non-conductive region between the open circuit end of the strip conductor member and the outer conductor layer on the other lateral side surface.

In a dielectric filter comprising a dielectric ceramic block which is provided with three or more than three resonators juxtaposed and a pair of input/output pads formed on the peripheral surface of the dielectric ceramic block, arranged opposite to each other at locations close to a short-circuiting end surface of the dielectric ceramic block and facing the respective outermost resonators and electrically connected to the respective outermost resonators by way of respective connecting conductive paths, the effect of lowering the resonant frequency of the outermost resonators by the input/output pads can be offset by arranging a strip-shaped electrode-free zone extending from the edge of the opening of the central resonator in the direction perpendicular to the longer edges of the short-circuiting end surface.

Resonant frequency compensated dielectric filter

A dielectric filter in which an open-circuiting end surface of a dielectric ceramic block is provided with a conductor pattern for each of the inner resonators and an additional conductor for each of the outermost resonators, the conductor patterns are intended to capacitively coupling the resonators with each other, and the additional conductors are intended to increase the effective resonant length of the outermost resonators, thereby the resonant frequencies of the resonators can be made substantially agree with each other.

Dielectric filter with elevated inner regions adjacent resonator openings

In a dielectric filter comprising a dielectric ceramic block which is provided with three or more than three resonators arranged in parallel with each other and a pair of input/output pads formed on a lateral side of the dielectric ceramic block, arranged at locations close to the open top of the dielectric ceramic block and facing the respective outer resonators and capacitively coupled to the respective outer resonators, the effective resonant length of the outer resonators is increased by forming extended conductors extending from the respective edges of the openings of the outer resonators to minimize the effect of the input/outputs and make the resonant frequencies of the outer resonators agree with that of the central resonator.

A dielectric filter is adapted to show a specified coupling capacitance without inadvertently affecting the resonance frequency, in which a dielectric ceramic block is provided with two or more than two resonant conductors arranged in parallel, a conductive circuit film is formed on the open-circuit end surface of said dielectric ceramic block and electrically separated from the inner conductive films of the resonant conductors by arranging insulation gaps therebetween to capacitively couple the conductive circuit film and the resonant conductors by way of the insulation gap.

Dielectric filter including various means of adjusting the coupling

A dielectric filter for a high frequency band includes a plurality of resonators formed by boring a plurality of through holes between the oppositely disposed end surfaces of a dielectric block in parallel with each other and arranging internal conductors on the inner peripheral surfaces of the respective through holes and an external conductor formed on a substantial portion of the outer peripheral surface of the dielectric block. A non-conductive region is formed on the short-circuit end surface and extends in parallel with the direction connecting the resonators, thereby the filter can be controlled satisfactorily for coupling the dielectric coaxial resonators and have a reduced height.
