A control device has a first sensor set with a first detection region, a second sensor set with a second detection region, and a control unit for controlling a predetermined operation based on a detection result by the first sensor and a detection result by the second sensor.

Control device and method

A flap type handle equipped with an electrostatic capacitance sensor, in which sensitivity adjustment can be easily performed without changing the specification of a sensor body, reduces the difference in detection sensitivity with respect to the position and perform required balance adjustment. A sensor body is fixed to a handle base portion. The detection face of the sensor body is oriented to a predetermined detection range at the inner surface side of a hand flap. An electrically conductive face is provided to the inner surface of the handle flap so as to cover the detection range. A connecting electric conductor for electromagnetically couple the electrically conductive face and the detection electrode at least under the non-operation of the handle flap is provided. The connecting electric conductor or/and the electrically conductive face are subjected to detection sensitivity adjusting trimming (provided with a cut-out or the like).

A lock controller has main apparatus provided to a lockable door and a detector for detecting an approaching or retreating target object. The detector includes an oscillator device for generating a transmission wave, a branching device for branching the transmission wave, a transmission device for transmitting the transmission wave into space as electromagnetic waves, a reception device for receiving the transmission wave reflected by the target object, a mixer for mixing a reception signal received by the reception device and a branched signal branched by the branching device to output a mixed signal, and a judging device for switching on a detection output indicating the target object approaching and retreating based on an increase and a decrease of the mixed signal outputted from the mixer. A detection distance is set within &#xbc; wavelength of frequency effective for the detection. The main apparatus sends by wireless transmission a specified request signal to a portable device carried by the user, and if an answer signal is received from the portable device in response, causes the lockable part to be unlocked after ascertaining that the received answer signal is a correct signal.

Detector and lock controller using same

A lock controller for automatically unlocking and locking a lockable part such as a vehicle door uses a detector for detecting a hand approaching inside a plurality of detection areas. Such a detector is not only arranged to transmit electromagnetic waves and to receive the reflected waves from a target object of detection such as a person's hand but also provided with a plurality of wave detection circuit parts for mixing wave detection signals corresponding to said transmission waves with signals received by said reception antenna at different sampling timings and outputting the mixed signals. A plurality of judging circuit parts each correspond to different one of the wave detection circuit parts and serve to switch on a detection output based on the outputted signals from said wave detection circuit parts to indicate that said target object is approaching and at a speed within a specified range. The detection areas have different sizes for each of the judging circuit parts corresponding to the different sampling timings of the wave detection circuit parts.
