In a compression mode in which plaintext data is input, and compressed, a first code that is an error detection code is generated with respect to the plaintext data, and compressed. A circuit generates restored plaintext data in which the compressed data is decompressed, for confirming successfulness. A second code that is an error detection code is generated with respect to the restored plaintext data and is compared with the first code. In a case where the first code and the second code agree, the compressed data and the first or second code are output. In a decompression mode, plaintext data is generated in which the input compressed data is decompressed. A third code that is an error detection code is generated with respect to the plaintext data and is compared with an input code, and when the input code and the third code agree, the plaintext data is output.

Compression/decompression apparatus, storage system, and compression/decompression method

A compression engine calculates replacement CRC codes, in predetermined data lengths, for DIF-in cleartext data including cleartext data and multiple CRC codes based on the cleartext data. The compression engine generates headered compressed-text data in which a header including the replacement CRC codes is added to compressed-text data in which the cleartext data is compressed, and generates code-in compressed-text data by calculating multiple CRC codes based on the headered compressed-text data to add the calculated CRC codes to the headered compressed-text data.

An electronic device includes a first molded body having a first frame, the first molded body being provided with a conductive pattern on its outer surface, a second molded body having a second frame, the second molded body being joined to the first molded body, a wiring sheet made of an insulative sheet provided with an interconnection pattern, a circuit board having a feed point, and a feed line having a first end extended to a mating surface of the first frame opposed to the second frame and a second end connected to the conductive pattern. The interconnection pattern has a first end connected to the one end of the feed line. The interconnection pattern has a second end connected to the feed point.

In a data input/output with other apparatus, a data transfer controller (DTC) of a storage controller multiprocesses a data transfer with the other apparatus by utilizing a saving/recovering operation and suppresses a load therefrom, thereby improving performance thereof. A first storage apparatus includes two DMA units in a data transfer LSI of the DTC, uses them to process one or more data transfers concurrently, uses the saving or recovering operation to a memory #also in one DMA unit to process the data transfer while the data transfers are switched, thereby multiprocessing a plurality of data transfers. Based on an instruction from the IOC, the DTC makes one of the DMA units recover the necessary data transfer information and data from the memory #and transfer the data to the memory, and concurrently the other of the DMA units, which is not processed presently, save in advance, to the memory #, the data transfer information and the data stored in the memory.

In a storage system having a first storage control apparatus and a second storage control apparatus, the first storage control apparatus has: a first memory; a second memory; an input/output control unit for data transfer information in the second memory; and a data transfer control unit having a data buffer and a data transfer register for controlling data transfer between the first memory and second storage control apparatus based on the data transfer information read from the second memory and written in the data transfer register. When a second data transfer is controlled while a first data transfer is controlled, the data transfer control unit writes the first data transfer information and data stored in the data buffer into the second memory, reads the second data transfer information from the second memory and writes the second data transfer information into the data transfer register to control the second data transfer.

A software-selecting method is for use in an electronic device equipped with a plurality of software components and a selecting section which selects one of the software components. The method comprises selecting one of the software components if one of first and second electronic device housings is attached to the electronic device. There is disclosed an apparatus for generating an electron beam in an electron microscope comprising an electron gun, a second anode located under the gun, an aperture plate having an aperture for limiting the electron beam, and a scattered electron-blocking member for limiting passage of the beam. The aperture plate is mounted in the beam passage formed in the second anode. The scattered electron-blocking member is located under the aperture plate. Electrons scattered at the edges of the aperture are blocked by the scattered electron-blocking member from colliding against the accelerator tube.

Electron beam-generating apparatus

In a conventional electron beam-producing apparatus, a field emission gun is combined with an accelerating tube. An electrostatic lens focuses the electron beam diverging from the emitter. This conventional apparatus needs a large power supply for applying potentials to the electrodes of the lens and to the accelerating electrodes. Also, it is difficult to make stationary the position at which the crossover point of the electron beam is imaged. The present invention makes use of voltage-dividing resistors to produce fractions of the accelerating voltage. These fractions of the voltage are applied to the electrodes of the electrostatic lens and to various electrodes. This permits the use of a power supply that is smaller in size than conventional. The number of the used voltage-dividing resistors is increased or decreased, depending on the accelerating voltage. This makes it possible to fix the position of the crossover point imaged by the electrostatic lens.
