A roller for electrophotography that has a low electric resistance value and that is still further reduced in contaminating property of other member is provided. The roller includes an electro-conductive mandrel and a surface layer having an electro-conductive foam. The electro-conductive foam includes a vulcanized product of an unvulcanized rubber composition including an acrylonitrile-butadiene rubber and a hydrin rubber. The vulcanized product has a matrix-domain structure having a sea phase and an island phase, contains ethylene oxide of 8.0% by mass or more and 20.0% by mass or less based on a total amount of the vulcanized product, and has a spin-spin relaxation time T2 of 750 &#x3bc;s&#x3c;T2&#x3c;930 &#x3bc;s.

A blade for an electrophotographic apparatus is provided which is prevented from turning up, achieves wear resistance, and has excellent cleaning properties. The blade is composed of a support member and a blade member formed of a thermosetting polyurethane elastomer, which are joined together. The blade member has a structure in which a nitrogen concentration continuously increases from the inside of a contact part coming into contact with a counterpart member toward the surface of the contact part.

A cleaning blade is provided which does not cause contamination of other parts even when being stored for a long period of time in a high temperature and high humidity environment. The cleaning blade is set in an image forming apparatus employing an electrostatic transfer process, including a blade member and a support member to rub and remove residual toner remaining on a photosensitive drum provided to the image forming apparatus, in which the total amount of nitrogen-containing compounds extracted with methanol from the cleaning blade is 12 &#x3bc;g or less per cm of the cleaning blade in its longitudinal direction.

A cleaning blade for use in an electrophotographic apparatus, which rubs and eliminates residual toners. The cleaning blade is made up of polyrethane resin sheet controls chipping of a top end of the cleaning blade and reduces an abrasion of a photosensitive drum. The cleaning blade is prepared by mixing and hardening at least a prepolymer, which is obtained from butylene adipate polyester polyol, hexylene adipate polyester polyol and polyisocyanate, and a hardening agent including a low molecular weight polyol and potassium acetate so that a mol ration (&agr; value) of hydroxyl group to isocyanate group becomes not less than 0.7 and not more than 0.9.

Perfluorinated functionalized materials are disclosed which are prepared by simultaneous perfluorination and functionalization. A wide variety of materials can be used including polymers and other branched or straight chain hydrocarbons. The material to be perfluorinated is placed in a direct fluorination apparatus and a mixture of fluorine and oxygen is passed over the material using La-Mar direct fluorination techniques. With materials such as polyethylene or polypropylene, pendant alkyl groups are converted to either acid fluoride groups or perfluoroalkyl groups, with the exact ratio of each being dependent upon the specific fluorine-to-oxygen ratio used.

Perfluorinated functionalized materials

A method is disclosed for producing perfluoroether oligomers having terminal carboxylic acid groups. In this method, a polyether, such as polyethylene oxide, having a molecular weight higher than the product to be produced is fluorinated in a direct fluorination apparatus. The polyether is fragmented during fluorination and significant yields of the desired oligomer are obtained.
