The invention provides a component selection control system comprising signal output componentsto, signal input components, and an amplifier unithaving these componentstoconnected thereto. The signal output componentstohave respective on-off switchesprovided on signal output linestofor delivering audio signals to the amplifier unittherethrough, and the amplifier unithas a common input terminal g. The signal output linestoof the output componentstoare connected to one another at a point connected to a common signal line, which is connected to the common input terminal g of the amplifier unit. This arrangement greatly reduces the numbers of signal lines and terminals required for connecting the componentstoto the amplifier unit

Component selection control system

In a system which comprises a plurality of audio componentstoconnected to an amplifier unitand wherein an audio signal from one component selected by a selectoris fed to a speakerfor the production of sound, a control circuitof the amplifier unitand each of control circuitsof the respective components are connected to each other by a control bus. The amplifier unittransmits a call signal to each of the componentstoand checks whether an answer signal is received therefrom in response to the call signal. When the component failing to return the answer signal is selected by the selector, the unitturns on a muting circuit. This eliminates the likelihood that the speaker will produce noise when the sound volume is increased while a nonconnected component is selected.
