An image forming apparatus including a photosensitive drum, a development roller, a separation cam, a fixing device, an adjusting cam, a main motor, a separation gear train, a fixing gear train, and an adjusting gear train. The development roller is movable relative to the photosensitive drum between a contact position and a separate position. The adjusting cam switches a nip pressure of the fixing device between first and second pressures. The separation gear train transmits a driving force of the main motor to the separation cam. The fixing gear train transmits the driving force of the main motor received from the separation gear train to the fixing device. The adjusting gear train transmits the driving force of the main motor received from the separation gear train to the adjusting cam.

In an image forming apparatus, a development cartridge is movable between a contact position in which a development roller is in contact with a photosensitive drum and a separate position in which the development roller is separate from the photosensitive drum, by a cam and a cam follower that is caused to slide in directions parallel to a rotation axis of the cam between a push position in which the development cartridge is pushed by the cam and positioned in the separate position and a no-push position in which the development cartridge is in the contact position. The cam follower includes a first shaft and a contact arm extending from the first shaft and configured to contact a cam surface of the cam. A projection of the first shaft onto the first cam in a direction parallel to the rotation axis is positioned inside a contour of the first cam.

A sheet supplying apparatus includes a supplying roller, a supply tray, and a lifting/lowering member having a protrusion. The pressure plate includes a pressure plate body and a contact member supported by the pressure plate body so as to be movable between a first position and a second position. The contact member is pushed up and lowered with the pressure plate body while being in contact with the protrusion at the first position in a state in which the protrusion is placed below the pressure plate body. The contact member moves to the second position at which the contact member is escaped from the lifting/lowering member when the protrusion moves from a position higher than the pressure plate toward a position lower than the pressure plate. The contact member moves to the first position when the lifting/lowering member moves to the position lower than the pressure plate.

A direction of a first thrust force applied to the first helical gear and a direction of a second thrust force applied to the second helical gear are opposite to each other.

An image forming apparatus having a duplex conveyer is provided. The duplex conveyer includes a first roller and a second roller arranged in an area closer to a first side surface of a body rather than a second side surface to align along a widthwise direction, a third roller and a fourth roller arranged to contact the first roller and the second roller respectively, an upper guide supporting the first roller and the second roller, and a lower guide arranged to face the upper guide at a position lower than the upper guide. The upper guide has a recessed portion at a position between the first roller and the second roller. The recessed portion recesses from an end of the upper guide on a side facing the first side surface toward the second side surface beyond an axis of the first roller.

An image forming apparatus, including a reference guide, an oblique conveyer roller, and a curve guide, is provided. The reference guide is arranged on one side in a widthwise direction with respect to a widthwise center in a sheet conveyer path and regulates a widthwise position of the sheet.
