A light source apparatus includes a first laser light emitter that emits first light, a wavelength converter that converts the first light into second light, a base including a first support part that supports the first laser light emitter and a second support part that supports the wavelength converter, and a first optical element that guides the first light to the wavelength converter. The first optical element has a first light incident surface which faces the first laser light emitter, a first reflection surface that reflects the first light emitted from the first light incident surface and deflects the optical path of the first light, and a first light exiting surface which faces the wavelength converter and via which the first light reflected off the first reflection surface exits. The first light incident surface, the first reflection surface, and the first light exiting surface intersect with each other.

Light source apparatus and projector

A light source apparatus according to an aspect of the present disclosure includes a light source that outputs excitation light, a wavelength converter including a reflection layer and a wavelength conversion layer that is provided on the light incident side of the reflection layer and converts the excitation light in terms of wavelength into wavelength converted light having a wavelength band different from that of the excitation light, a first optical element that causes the excitation light from the light source to be incident on the wavelength converter, and a second optical element that is disposed in the optical path between the light source and the wavelength converter and causes at least part of reflected light of the excitation light reflected off the wavelength converter to exit toward the wavelength converter.

An illuminator includes a light source that outputs first light, a wavelength converter that converts the first light into second light, an optical element that reflects the first light toward the wavelength converter and transmits the second light, and an illumination system which is disposed on the opposite side of the optical element from the wavelength converter. The wavelength converter includes a substrate, a reflection layer facing a first surface of the substrate, a wavelength conversion layer having a second surface and facing the reflection layer, and a structural element facing the second surface and having a plurality of protrusions that reflect part of the first light. The plurality of protrusions each have an inclining surface that inclines with respect to the second surface, and at least part of the first light and reflected off the inclining surface enters the illumination system without traveling via the optical element.

Illuminator and projector

A projector including an exterior enclosure, a light source apparatus, a light modulator, a projection optical apparatus, a plurality of detection light radiators that radiate detection light used to detect a pointing element onto a projection area, an imager that receives light that belongs to a wavelength region including the wavelength of the detection light to capture an image of the projection area, and a position detector that detects the position of the pointing element in the projection area based on the image captured by the imager, wherein the plurality of detection light radiators are arranged in different positions on the exterior enclosure, the plurality of detection light radiators include a first detection light radiator, and the first detection light radiator is so configured that a distance therefrom to another detection light radiator out of the plurality of detection light radiators is changeable.

Projector, projection system, and detection light radiator

A light source device is provided with a blue laser emitting element, a red laser emitting element, a phosphor, a polarization split element having a polarization split function with respect to blue light and red light, and a diffusion element. The blue light emitted from the blue laser emitting element enters the polarization split element to be split into a first blue polarization component and a second blue polarization component. The first blue polarization component enters the diffusion element to turn to blue diffused light. The phosphor is excited by the second blue polarization component to emit fluorescence, and the red light emitted from the red laser emitting element enters the diffusion element to be diffusely transmitted to turn to red diffused light. The blue diffused light, the red diffused light and a part of the fluorescence are combined with each other, and then emitted from the polarization split element.

Light source device and projector

An illumination device includes a blue laser emitting element, a red laser emitting element, a diffusely reflecting element configured to diffuse and reflect a part of light from the blue laser emitting element, a phosphor, a bandpass filter provided to the phosphor to transmit light from the red laser emitting element, a polarization splitting/combining element having a polarization split function, and a first wave plate disposed between the polarization splitting/combining element and the diffusely reflecting element. The polarization splitting/combining element guides a blue first polarization component to the diffusely reflecting element and guides a blue second polarization component to the phosphor. Then, the polarization splitting/combining element combines the fluorescence, the light from the red laser emitting element entering a second surface of the phosphor and then emitted from a first surface, and blue diffused light with each other to generate illumination light.

Illumination device and projector

A lighting apparatus used for a projection type display is provided, which can change the incident ray volume to an optical modulation device without changing the optical output intensity of the lamp, and can exhibit excellent effects in expressive power of an image and adaptability to the use environment. The lighting apparatus of the present invention comprises; a light source, two fly-eye lenses constituting a uniform lighting device, and a shading plate arranged between these fly-eye lenses and constituting a dimming device for adjusting the amount of light of the outgoing light from the light source. The angle of inclination of the shading plate is controlled based on an image signal supplied to the optical modulation device, thereby enabling adjustment of the amount of light.

Lighting apparatus and projection type display, and driving method therefor

An image display device includes a first optical modulator that modulates a plurality of color lights coming from a light source, a color combination member that combines the color lights, a second optical modulator that modulates a light provided by the color combination member as a result of the color light combination, and a relay optical system that is disposed between the color combination member and the second optical modulator. The replay optical system guides the light provided by the color combination member to the second optical modulator. A light transmissive member is disposed between the relay optical system and the second optical modulator, and allows optical path conditions from the first optical modulator to the relay optical system via the color combination member to be substantially the same as optical path conditions from the relay optical system to the second optical modulator.

Image display device and projector

A display control apparatus that controls first and second modulation sections optically connected in series includes a storage unit and a control unit. The storage unit stores information to specify a defective pixel of the first modulation section. The control unit controls the second modulation section in response to a defect of the defective pixel being stored in the storage unit.
