Porous acrylic fibers produced by a method comprising subjecting a spinning dope containing 0.3 to 20 parts by weight of poly(vinyl acetate) relative to 100 parts of an acrylic copolymer to a wet spinning to give fibers, crimping and cutting the fibers, subjecting the resultant fibers to a treatment by hot water at 90 to 100&deg; C. for 30 to 120 minutes or by saturated steam at 90 to 130&deg; C. for 10 to 90 minutes to thereby form porous fibers; and a pile fabric having pile portions which comprise the porous fibers in an amount of 3 wt % or more, and, in the pile fabric, respective single fibers are visible being separate and emphasized, and thus the pile fabric has an appearance being highly decorative and excellent in design characteristics.

Porous acrylic fiber and fabric comprising the same, and method of producing the same

The present invention provides synthetic hair comprising fiber of 30 to 100 decitex, comprising an acrylic copolymer obtained by copolymerizing acrylonitrile, vinylidene chloride and a vinyl monomer containing a sulfonic acid group and a process for preparing the synthetic hair. The synthetic hair of the present invention has favorable surface gloss and excellent knot strength and hair breaking in the sewing machine steps when preparing the weft and in implanting hair to skin when preparing wigs and toupees is improved. The fiber which becomes the synthetic fiber is prepared by preparing a spinning solution containing, in a polymer solution of an acrylic polymer comprising 40 to 74% by weight of acrylonitrile, 25 to 59% by weight of vinylidene chloride and 1 to 5% by weight of a vinyl monomer containing a sulfonic acid group copolymerizable therewith and a good solvent, 5 to 20 parts by weight of water based on 100 parts by weight of the polymer, forming fiber by wet spinning, conducting drawing treatment so that the total drawing ratio becomes 2.5 to 12 times and conducting relaxing treatment so that the total relaxation ratio becomes at least 15%. By this method, synthetic hair is obtained, in which the gloss contrast is at least 0.88, the knot strength is at least 0.5 cN/decitex and the average fineness of the filament is 30 to 100 decitex.

Artificial hair and method for production thereof

The present invention relates to artificial hair comprising polyvinyl alcohol fibers with a shrinkage percentage of 10% or less under a dry heat condition at 18.degree. C., preferably a shrinkage percentage of 10% or less under a dry heat condition at 20.degree. C. and with a fineness in the range of 25 to 100 denier wherein the ratio (S)/(L) of the length of short axis (S)/the length of long axis (L) in the sectional shape is in the range of 0.75 to 1. The artificial hair of the invention can be curled in a wide temperature range under hair iron setting conditions for human hair without deteriorating commodity qualities and without using special curl setting temperature conditions such as for conventional artificial hair consisting of synthetic fiber.

A process for producing regenerated collagen fiber from solubilized collagen including adjusting a degree of swelling of solubilized collagen to 100 to 300% and then treating the resulting solubilized collagen with an aqueous solution of a metallic salt. The regenerated collagen fiber has excellent water resistance and undergoes no waving on contact with water.

The present invention provides pile compositions comprising 2% by weight or more of porous expanded fibers with expansion ratio 3% or higher as fibers composing the pile part. This invention enables providing pile compositions which give excellent animal hair like feeling and external appearance; that is, pile part's lightness, bulkiness, soft touch, elasticity, coloring and loosenability.

Acrylic synthetic fibers having excellent touch and luster properties are produced, wherein such fibers are prepared from a copolymer comprising 30 weight % or more of acrylonitrile, 70 weight % and less of vinyl chloride and/or vinylidene chloride and from 0 to 10 weight % of other polymerizable vinyl monomers. The copolymer also contains at least one metallic compound which is present in an amount of from 0.1 to 8.0 parts per 100 parts of copolymer and, additionally, at least one cellulose derivative which is present in an amount from 1.0 to 8.0 parts per 100 parts of the copolymer. Fibers produced from such copolymer have the touch and luster very similar to natural animal hair.
