An activation restricting apparatus for an engine starting system that may be produced with a compact size. The apparatus includes an operating mechanism, an actuator, and a control unit. The operating mechanism starts and stops the engine and has a plurality of positions including a LOCK position. The operating mechanism includes a first stopper prohibiting movement of the operating mechanism from the LOCK position and a second stopper prohibiting movement of the operating mechanism to the LOCK position. The control unit enables the engine to be started when the operating mechanism is in the LOCK position and a first ID code sent from a portable device matches a second ID code. The control unit enables the operating mechanism to be moved to the LOCK position when the operating mechanism is not in the LOCK position and the vehicle is not moving.

Apparatus for restricting activation of engine starting system

An electronic automobile anti-theft apparatus having high reliability includes a motor, which moves a lock pin to lock a steering shaft of an automobile. A solenoid maintains the lock pin in a state released from the steering shaft and operates to permit the lock pin to lock the steering shaft by receiving power. An ECU controls the operations of the motor and the solenoid. A mechanical switch stops supplying the solenoid with power to prevent unintentional locking by the lock pin when the automobile is being driven or when driving of the automobile is enabled.

Electronic automobile anti-theft apparatus

An engine switch for selectively starting and stopping an engine and an LED for irradiating the engine switch are located in a passenger compartment of a vehicle. When a vehicular lighting device, such as a headlight, is switched from an on state to an off state, the LED is lighted up. Therefore, even if the passenger compartment is dark, the position of the engine switch is easily found.

A holder coil spring is located between an inner surface of a bottom of a case main body and a bottom outer surface of a shutter holder. A shutter coil spring is located between a bottom inner surface of the shutter holder and a shutter. In each sidewall of the shutter holder, a tactile feedback piece and a locking piece are provided. The tactile feedback piece holds the shutter holder at the case main body. The locking piece locks an electronic key in the shutter holder. Even if an object other than the electronic key (for example, a finger) is inserted in the slot, the object is not locked in the shutter holder. When the object other than the electronic key is pulled out of the slot, the shutter holder and the shutter return to original positions to close the slot. Therefore, when no object is inserted, the slot of the slot mechanism is reliably closed with the shutter.

Slot mechanism and smart ignition system

An apparatus for insertion of a key therein substantially prevents foreign matter from entering into a key insertion hole, and even if foreign matter does enter into the key insertion hole, discharges the foreign matter therefrom. A shutter is provided within the key insertion hole so as to be movable along a direction of insertion of a key. The shutter is always urged by a compression coil spring toward an opening of the insertion hole. In a state in which no key is inserted in the insertion hole, the shutter is urged by the compression coil spring and closes the insertion hole. As a result, foreign matter such as dust or the like can be prevented from entering into the insertion hole. Further, the shutter is provided with a reflecting surface, and when no key is inserted in the insertion hole, the reflecting surface reflects light from a light source so as to illuminate the opening of the insertion hole. Thus, even if a region surrounding the opening of the insertion hole is dark, the opening can be visually confirmed and the key can be easily inserted into the insertion hole.

Apparatus for insertion of a key therein

A gate-type shift lever device having a stopper which is disposed so as to prevent the movement of a shift lever positioned in one of the P shift range and N shift range and which, in this case, prevents the movement of the shift lever positioned in the P shift range to other shift ranges than the P shift range, and the movement of the shift lever positioned in the N shift range to the R shift range. This makes it possible to reliably set a shift lever in a shift lock state under a specific condition without effecting a pushing operation of a shift lever knob and by a simple structure.

Shift lever device

A shift lock apparatus which allows a shift interlock wire and a key interlock wire to be arranged more effectively and neatly within the vehicle body. A lock pin engages with a first engagement portion perpendicularly each other. The shift interlock wire is linked with the first engagement portion and moves as a shift lever is locked or unlocked. The lock pin is moved by a brake pedal when the brake pedal is released. When a key inserted into a key cylinder is rotated from an ACC position to a LOCK position, the key interlock wire moves to establish engagement with a second engagement portion. Both wires intersect each other, and also the lock pin and the wire intersect each other, thereby providing secure operation and a shorter and neater layout of wires when a housing is installed within the interior of the vehicle.

Mechanical shift lock apparatus, and lock mechanism and wire structure

A compact shift lock unit is provided having a detecting switch and a solenoid operated stopper driver that drives a stopper that engages with and separates from a shift lock plate. When the detecting switch detects a P position, power input connector pins of the stopper driver are positioned in a row with signal output connector pins of the detecting switch. The signal output connector pins and the power input connector pins are interconnected by a single female-type connector at wiring between the stopper driver as well as the detecting switch. A shift lock controller operates and controls the stopper driver so that the stopper separates from the shift lock plate and allows it to move due to the movement of a grooved pin when a shift lever is in a P position and a brake pedal is depressed.

Shift lock unit

A lighting device for a zigzag-operated shift lever, wherein an indicator plate is light-transmissible, the indicator plate has a two-layer structure having an upper member, in which the upper surface other than the area of a position indicator is shaded and the position indicator is illuminated by lighting means, and a lower member, in which the light from the lighting means is transmitted to the peripheral portion of a operation groove at the indicator plate so that the peripheral portion of the operation groove is illuminated. A portion of the light from the lighting means passes through the upper member so that the position indicator is illuminated. Because nothing shades the upper surface of the lower member, the remaining portion of the light is repeatedly reflected by the border between the upper and lower members and by the lower surface of the lower member. The light is transmitted to the peripheral portion of the operation groove within the lower member. As a result, the area of the position indicator, the side surfaces of the operation groove at the driver's seat side and the front passenger's seat side are illuminated.

Lighting device for zigzag-operated shift lever

The present invention is directed to a shift locking apparatus for blocking a shifting movement unless a special operation is conducted such as the depression of a foot brake by an operator, when a shift lever of an automatic transmission is moved from a specified shift position of a parking 'P' and the like to another shift position, wherein when releasing of the shift lock is conducted by an electrically operated actuator such as a solenoid, the shift lock can be released by use of a key for a vehicle even in a condition where the electrically operated actuator is not used. The operation of a key cylinder by use of the key of the vehicle by the operator causes the shift lock to be released, ensuring that the operator can move the shift lever to any other shift position, thereby permitting the vehicle to be moved even if there is some trouble such as electrical trouble.

Locking apparatus for shift lever of automatic transmission

An automatic shift lever locking device is capable of locking the shift of an automatic transmission in a specific non-driving shift position against movement from this position unless a predetermined condition is met. The device has a detent pin provided on the shift lever and movable in response to pressing of a push button on the shift lever, a movable member engageable with the detent pin, and a lock member engageable with the movable member so as to prevent the detent pin from moving out of a lock position thereby to maintain the shift lever locked in the non-driving position. Therefore, when the shift lever is not locked, the manual force exerted by the driver on the push button is not transmitted to the lock members and other parts mechanically or electrically connected to the lock member.

Device for locking shift lever of automatic transmission

A shift lever apparatus for an automatic transmission of a vehicle includes shift positions of which are arranged in the order of a parking range, a reverse range, a neutral range, and a drive range and are selectable in a single shift range by a swinging operation of the shift lever. The apparatus is provided with a control member which is adapted to control the movement of a moving plate caused by the pressing of a detent pin. Control is effected such that even if a pushbutton is pressed, a shifting operation from the parking range to another range is prohibited when the parking range is selected as the shift position and a foot brake of the vehicle is not pressed with the foot. Furthermore, even if the pushbutton is pressed, a shifting operation from the neutral range toward the reverse range is prohibited when a speed of the vehicle is above a predetermined value and a shifting operation is effected to the neutral range.

Shift lever apparatus for automatic transmission of vehicle

A shift lever for shifting an automatic transmission is axially supported by a base plate which is provided with a locking device to enable shift operation of the shift lever when the driver depresses the brake pedal. A cover is mounted to the base plate and is provided with a lock cancellation push button to forcedly cancel the locking apparatus at times when the vehicle is being repaired or the like. The button on the cover and the locking device are connected by a flexible wire and so operative force of the pushbutton can be definitely transmitted to the locking device to cancel the lock even if the positions for assembling the cover to the base plate are not always the same.

Shift lever apparatus for automatic transmission

An automatic shift lever locking device is capable of locking the shift lever of an automatic transmission in a specific non-driving shift position against movement from this position unless a predetermined condition is met. The device has a detent pin provided on the shift lever and movable in response to pressing of a push button on the shift lever, a movable member engageable with the detent pin, and a lock member engageable with the movable member so as to prevent the detent pin from moving out of a lock position thereby to maintain the shift lever locked in the non-driving position. Therefore, when the shift lever is not locked, the manual force exerted by the driver on the push button is not transmitted to the lock members and other parts mechanically connected to the lock member.

A shift lever device is used when an assembly of a vehicle is performed while the vehicle is being moved in a state where a shift lever of an automatic transmission gear is in a neutral state, i.e., in a state where wheels can be freely turned. A movable body is driven by a detent pin moved in the acial direction of the shift lever in a state where the shift lever is at a park position. The movable body is coupled to a steering locking device. An operator moves the movable body to a position at which it can be driven by the detent pin of the shift lever in spite of the fact that the shift lever is not at the parking position, so as to enable an igition key to be removed from the steering locking device.
