The present invention is a monitoring apparatus for monitoring behavior of a monitoring target, and includes an imaging unit; a display unit that displays the monitoring target imaged by the imaging unit in real time and displays a marker for specifying the position of the monitoring target; a first input unit that receives input of an installation position of the imaging unit relative to the monitoring target; a first storage unit storing monitoring environment data that defines, in advance, an environment around the monitoring target that is to be imaged by the imaging unit, in accordance with the installation position.

Thus, it becomes possible to carry out the sharpening process on the image data without causing emphasized noise and occurrences of an overshoot and an undershoot.
